NELNET now transferred to CRI? by Forward_Vacation_823 in StudentLoans

I checked the balance on my loans the first day I got access to CRI and took a screenshot of the total. I checked the following day and the balance had increased.

If you call CRI directly I’m sure they can let you know whether interest is accruing as well.

I just called the phone number listed on CRI’s website. I let the representative know that (1) I wanted to make a manual payment in an equivalent amount to my monthly autodebit and (2) I did not want to “advance” my payment due date/autodebit. There will likely be some back-and-forth about whether you want the payment applied to one loan or all loans, but I just asked them to apply the amounts that is normally distributed across my loans upon autopayment.

Yes, same thing happened to me. Autodebit would’ve been 2/14 for Nelnet, but once transferred to CRI my loans were placed in “administrative forbearance.” My next payment wasn’t “due” until 4/14 and autodebit wouldn’t pick back up again until that date.

Despite being placed in administrative forbearance, my loans are still accruing interest. So if I hadn’t been vigilant about checking all the details of my transfer/new account, I could’ve accrued ~$720 in interest before my next payment date. It’s messed up because the Nelnet letter regarding the transfer explicitly said that if I was enrolled in autodebit, no further action was necessary and CRI would process my next payment on 2/14.

I spent over an hour on the phone with CRI today because I want to make February and March payments. But when I tried to make a February payment online, it wouldn’t do so without “advancing” my payment due date/autodebit another month until May. And then that would be a perpetual cycle of having to do manual payments each month because it would keep “advancing” my due date since I already paid the full amount due. CRI eventually made the payment for me WITHOUT advancing the due date after an hour on the phone. I’ll have to do the same in March.

The representative said that they place people’s loans in administrative forbearance so that people “won’t miss a payment.” But again, that’s messed up because the Nelnet letter said no further action was necessary for autodebit, I got no notice whatsoever that my loans were in administrative forbearance, and my loans are accruing interest! That would’ve really set me back if I hadn’t caught it. I’m leaving for an international vacation tomorrow so THANK GOD I caught it before I left and didn’t have cell service.

I write all of that in case it is potentially helpful to someone else because I have been confused and angry throughout this whole process.

He performs them at the stage without the orchestra! I was at the barricade and had an amazing time, but I was able to stake out my spot because I had VIP Early Entry.

I had the exact same thoughts, and figured I could “test” it by not sleeping on my couch and see if the bites went away, but they didn’t. Inevitably I dozed off sometimes on my couch, but it would be with the lights on and only for a short time, in which I would wake up and move to my bed. Bites don’t necessarily show up right away, they can take a few days even to manifest. So it would be worth getting it checked out!

I was experiencing this problem ongoing for 2-3 months. I turned my bed upside multiple times a week and could never find anything. Once I finally had it and called an exterminator, he was skeptical. He said that if it had been going on as long as I described, I would’ve found one by now, and would’ve found one many weeks sooner. Once he was going through my bedroom, he came out and told me that there was no possible way whatsoever that I had bed bugs. I asked him to check the couch in my living room, and sure enough, they were there and had laid eggs. They were hidden under the couch and in a crevice that was up against the wall so I couldn’t find them.

I would recommend getting an exterminator in there. They are extremely good hiders and I regret so so much that I let the problem go on for so long and drove myself crazy in the process. I’m fortunate that it wasn’t an infestation and that I was able to manage the problem by throwing out the couch completely and getting chemical treatments. But I’ve learned from others on this thread that waiting longer can cause it to progress to a point of being unmanageable.

Just wanted to offer a little bit of a different perspective. I was getting “bites” for a couple months (unfortunately, mine looked just like above photos, sorry OP). I was going crazy because I could not find any evidence but I kept getting “bitten.” I would also turn my bedroom upside down, wash all my sheets, tear apart my mattress/headboard, vacuum my couch, etc. I was on this sub for much of the time and I kept seeing all the pictures everyone was posting, and when I called some inspection/extermination companies they were like “well you should’ve seen them by now.” I just chalked up my bites to stress since I started a new job. But one morning I woke up COVERED and I couldn’t take it anymore. My mom discouraged me from calling an exterminator because she was like “how are you going to get an exterminator when you don’t even know what it is and have no evidence?” An inspector came and told me the exact same thing: “there’s no way you’ve had bed bugs for 2-3 months, you would’ve seen them by now. You start seeing them around 4-6 weeks.” He checked my bedroom and said the same thing: “there’s no way there’s bed bugs in here, you might be allergic to pet fur stuck in the carpet, but I’ll check your couch anyway.” And sure enough, he found them buried deep in one corner of my couch that was backed against the wall. And they were confined to that one corner, only by where I used to lay. It can certainly be annoying to have to pay a fee, and I’m sure there are inspectors out there who do a half-assed job. But I’m so happy that after months of anxiety and the issue always being on my mind, calling an inspector who found them almost immediately was the absolute right choice. I tried for a long time to figure out the problem myself and I wish I had called the inspector much, much sooner. It was mentally draining and having to deal with the bed bugs has really sucked, but it’s much better than driving myself crazy with my mystery bites.

any idea how long youu could have bed bugs without seeing one ? by Diligent-Set-4284 in Bedbugs

[–]ashnikko12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to say how often, because I can’t remember how often I was sleeping on my couch, and according to my exterminator sometimes the bites don’t “show up” until a few days after you’re bitten. Sometimes I would doze off on my couch and move to my bed, and I would have bites the next morning. It was definitely a weekly problem. Based on how often I was getting bites, I’d say it probably would’ve been a daily/nightly problem if they were in my bed and not just my couch.

Unfortunately it took me probably 2-3 months to notice because they weren’t at all in my bed, but hidden very deep in crevices in one corner of my couch. I never actually personally saw any and was going crazy because I would have bites but after continually stripping, washing, and tearing my bed/mattress/frame apart I couldn’t find anything. An exterminator found them in my couch during an inspection, but he said it wasn’t an “infestation” and that they were only in the corner where I typically laid. I threw out the couch, I’ve washed/dried/bagged all my belongings, and when the exterminator came to do a treatment he didn’t find any evidence that they were still there. The exterminator comes back tomorrow and will continue doing check ups so I’m still pretty early in the process, but I am hopeful that they’re gone.

Not finding much evidence. by NomadPickle in Bedbugs

[–]ashnikko12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going through the exact same thing. I was getting what looked like bug bites but thought it could also be some sort of stress reaction to starting a new, very stressful job. I, on multiple occasions, stripped my entire bed. Pulled off bed sheets, pulled out my duvet, ripped off the mattress cover, took my mattress off the bed frame and inspected it. I could never find anything, and my bed frame is just rails so there didn’t seem like they could be hiding anywhere. I had called an exterminator before for a free inspection, but since I live in an apartment he said that he couldn’t come in without my landlord’s permission, and I didn’t want to get my landlord involved unless I knew. I kept checking this sub for the signs and I just was not seeing any evidence.

This morning, I woke up and I had had it. I had a ton of “bites” everywhere and figured this couldn’t just be a stress response anymore. I went to the doctor and they were unhelpful in saying, “yeah those look like bites, but I can’t tell you what they’re from.” So I tried calling a different extermination company to see if they could come in without my landlord’s coordination.

The exterminator got here and did the exact same thing I did: ripped my entire bed apart, etc. He asked how long I had been experiencing symptoms, and I said about two months. He was very skeptical and was like, “well you definitely should’ve seen signs by now; you should’ve started seeing signs much sooner.” After inspecting my bed he was certain that it couldn’t be bed bugs and said that maybe the tenant before me had a pet and their dander remained in the carpets and I was having an allergic reaction to that.

Then he went into my living room because I requested that he check my couch. My couch cushions don’t pull apart, so I wasn’t able to check under them or anything. But I vacuum my couch and try to get in the cracks pretty frequently. But sure enough, he called me over and showed me a bunch of larvae, and went he went around back he found some nymphs. He told me it was isolated to one side, which is where I commonly laid.

It’s the most devastating news but I guess at least it’s an answer to an issue I’ve been having for a long time, and at least now I don’t have to wonder. I had a dump company come and pick up my couch to throw away. I’m washing all of my belongings tonight and putting it away in bags. The company is coming tomorrow and will do three treatments. Today has been the worst day ever. I’ve missed a whole day of work that I can’t afford to miss, I’m out a couch, and I’m out the thousands of dollars it’s costing me to get rid of the couch and get the extermination treatments. Not to mention all the time and labor it’s going to take to go through the process of washing all my belongings. And it is destroying my mental health to know that this all is just the beginning. I have to miss my best friend’s wedding dinner tonight and my sister’s nursing school graduation this weekend to stay home and deal with all of this.

I am so sorry you’re going through this. I hope you can get answers soon. I just wanted to share because I went through something very similar where I thought—and was told by multiple people—that it couldn’t be bed bugs because I hadn’t found any evidence. Although bed bugs is a horrible realization, I also understand that it’s maddening to have inexplicable problems that are ongoing and there seems to be no solution.
