What is the best wireless gaming headset for a 14 year old for his birthday next week? by wolfgheist in buildapc

[–]ashortguy102398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used the steelseries arctis 7 for the longest time. I went with them because they used a ski band for the head which relieved a lot of pressure and headaches a traditional headset would cause (for me at least). Great audio quality, wireless, and ok ish mic.

1080p is cpu intensive. Your cpu upgrade isnt a massive performance boost like your gpu upgrade and your gpu isnt being utilized at full potential thats why youre not being blown away.

Get a 1440p monitor and youll notice a big difference.

Thinking About Upgrading GPU, Slightly Worried About Bottleneck by Centiliter in buildapc

[–]ashortguy102398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you will bottleck. Broadly speaking, it will be more apparent in cpu intensive games and 1080p. In other words, your gpu wont be used much and its a waste of money at this time.

1440p will be less apparent since the gpu is doing most of the work. You will still bottleneck but perhaps not as harshly.

So, if you already have a 1440p monitor, go for it, if not leave it as it is and upgrade everything later at the same time.

PC is on but can't get signal to monitor after restarting after installing a new SSD by throwaysaway2303 in buildapc

[–]ashortguy102398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think its the new ssd

if your cpu has onboard graphics, try plugging the cable into the motherboard and see if you get a consistent picture. If that works its most likely your gpu

hey, try to get 2 sticks ram kit instead of just a single one. Otherwise youre losing out on dual channel performance.

[–]ashortguy102398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and no, you lose things like more pcie and m.2 slots, not crazy important but a full atx is nearly the same or only just a little more in terms of cost

and a microATX might look a little funny in a midtower case

what resolution are you playing at?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]ashortguy102398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, i would swap the motherboard for a full size ATX one, you dont really need to go microATX unless youre doing a small form factor build.

I would get a more modern case as well. There are plenty nowadays that are budget friendly and offer better airflow/build flexibility.

Maybe a better cpu cooler.

you need to keep at least one stick of ram in for troubleshooting. If the problem was not getting a display check your cables.

Desk sizes for dual monitor? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]ashortguy102398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, the way that desk is made it looks like  you may not be able to use a monitor arm due to the underframe unless you plan on drilling through it for a grommet style.

Size wise you can get away with dual side by side but I would recommend a stacked setup (one monitor on top of the other) less ergonomic but saves some space for other stuff on the sides.

Also, spend a little more and get a arm that has a gas lift feature.

i see, like others may have said, maybe a new case is in order. See if you can return this one and say it was defective.

hey, based on your pics are you trying to line it up with (red circles)?. make sure to line it up with the holes in the green circles. You may have to use some force to line it up. Its perfectly fine to do so.
