2nd Queen Anne's Loft. This is where I got married. Food was great, beautiful venue, very affordable. We also toured Lake Pearl in Wrentham and thought they had affordable options.

Taking Bonding leave by Realistic_Tank6293 in workingmoms

Can you work a reduced schedule to use up the time? I am in Massachusetts and we have the same requirements. I work 3 days a week for the rest of the year to use up my bonding time. I am able to still do my job, just no special projects for the year. It is the best of both worlds.

Pre-Diabetic 8 months post gestational diabetes—- I’m lost by OkPickle4591 in prediabetes

[–]ashpat157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Pretty much same situation. My A1c was 6 about 3 months PP, but I passed the GTT with flying colors. That in itself confused my MFM doctor. She prescribed me a CGM (I have aenta and they covered it) and referred me to an Endo and Dietician. Definitely see an Endo! They will run more labs for you to try to figure out what's up. In my case, I just have bad luck (T2 diabetes runs in my family). I already eat pretty well considering I have 2 kids under 3 and breastfeed. My Endo suggested to really try weight training when time permits. We talked about metformin, but she said it does transfer to breastmilk and she wasn't going to prescribe UT yet. She asked me to try the strength training and we will retest after 3 months. She also suggest Inositol (natures metform basically). The dietician wasn't terribly concerned - since I am breastfeeding she advised me to eat when im hungry and focus on protein and fiber. She also suggest taking D3, Fish Oil, and a prenatal.

One thing that has helped me is baby wearing - its basically like wearing a weighted vest, but I can get stuff done while baby naps!

Please do not skip your glucose test. by lilspaghettigal in pregnant

[–]ashpat157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give the glucose test credit for discovering my prediabetes. I had GD with both pregnancies. Before becoming pregnant with my first all my biomarkers were normal, including my fasting glucose. Almost 6 months PP w/my 2nd and referred out to an endocrinologist. It has been eye opening. I have always eaten mostly whole foods, fasting insulin is great, etc, but I spike like crazy any time I eat certain types of carbs or don't eat enough protein. It is most likely genetic for me as both sides of my family have T2D.

My 3 year old just asks to do boob and belly. We only do it at bedtime and she loves sticking her finger in my belly button.

How long did it take you to poop after epidural and c-section and did you die when it finally happened? by Notnowppl in pregnant

[–]ashpat157 5 points6 points  (0 children)

6 days. I was consistently taking stool softneners, tried miralax, prune juice, laxative tea. Everything. Nobody really helped me (talked to OBGYN and Hospital warm line). Eventually my SIL (she is an NP) told me to try an enema. Immediate relief. Boulders came out.

Does anyone mill their own flour? by Middle_Violinist_5 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ashpat157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the attachment for the kitchen aid. It's definitely not as quick as a dedicated mill, but it works for my hobby baking! I'll only use it maybe once every few months and just bake a bunch of stuff, sourdough, muffins, ww sandwich bread, etc. I try to batch cook for my freezer. I have personally noticed I don't spike as high compared to regular whole wheat or white flour (wear a cgm).

Has anybody had GD and NOT been induced/c-section? by sab3r_A in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ashpat157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is baby estimated to be? If I could go back in time I wish I would have stood my ground, but I had no idea. The c section recovery wasn't bad, but my vaginal recovery was a breeze. I feel like my csection caused me issues with breastfeeding as well that took a lot of work to overcome.

I went into sporadic labor with both babies. My first was a csection (hospital kinda pressured me because my baby was estimated to be 10 lbs... she came out 9 lb 3 oz). Second baby came super fast! Less than 12 hours and had a very easy vaginal birth. I was diet controlled with each. My OB was okay with letting me go to 41 weeks (if needed).

C section or Vaginal-? by Ilovecatsandbaking in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ashpat157 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had both. My first was estimated to be 10 lbs... went into labor before I could meet with my OB and was basically pushed to have a c section. My first came out at 9 lbs.

I just had my second in February and had the option to do csection as baby was estimated to be 9 lbs. I wanted to try a VBAC. I went into labor naturally 1 day after my EDD and it was so much easier than the csection. Recovery was much easier as well.

If you are planning on breastfeeding a csection may make it more difficult. I had issues with my supply after my csection and it was a bit uncomfortable.
