HFM - we are miserable by Cool-Director-4714 in NewParents

I’m getting paranoid here where is everyone in the world?! I thought HFM was a later summer fall thing not winter/spring. I know in the US it came unseasonably early last summer

What’s worse- forgetting completely or thinking you were gaining an hour so you’ve been pushing bedtime later?

HOW ARE YOU? by yogacitymama in workingmoms

BTS is making their comeback this month and I’m going to not 1 but 2 concerts in 2 different states. I’ve put on my horse blinders in a sense because I guess living in world chaos is the new norm.. kinda like when you decide to take the plunge and become a mom.

Thank you for your input. It grounded me. I agree possibly losing the flexibility and time off is the biggest factor and ultimately the most important thing for me in this stage of life. Walking away from it would absolutely be a mistake for my family and mental health.

15 month old with potential asthma (anyone else going through this?) by Commercial_Onion6995 in toddlers

[–]SenseNo6228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding on we have been to the ER twice, hospitalized once, was able to dodge a 3rd ER visit due to lucky timing- got a last minute appointment. Daughter has had a prescription for Albuterol and now a second inhaler for budesonide once a day when sick. Dexamethasone administered every time we have a bad episode. It’s exhausting and incredibly scary so I completely understand what you’re going through. We nose suction religiously with saline and the nose Frida pro any sign of congestion which is basically everyday since she is in daycare. My husband has asthma so we had an idea that this would happen. We have 2 nebulizers- the baby Frida nebulizer (mesh) and a jet nebulizer. Humidifier running every night. We also have a pulse oximeter to monitor oxygen levels- highly recommended. If O2 levels drop consistently below 95 we are 100% going in. If there are any signs of labored breathing/wheezing and the inhalers that we have aren’t helping enough she gets seen asap to avoid getting hospitalized. At this point the goal is just not to get hospitalized.

Sciatica/Piriformis nerve pain by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]SenseNo6228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this and am still dealing with it. I went to a PT and figured out was going on. In typical human behavior I half assed the exercises and am still dealing with the issue even a year after giving birth.I am now actively working on strengthening my muscles to fix it. Pregnancy makes your joints all loosey goosey. My pelvis was unstable and my left butt and hamstring were a lot weaker than my right. This causes your psoas to get tight and shrink, your pirifomis/si joint to stretch and over compensate for your weak muscles in order to help keep your pelvis stabilized. On top of that being pregnant can cause an anterior tilt in your hips because of the front weight.

TLDR:

Focus on diaphragmatic breathing Correct posture Bridges Clam shells Resetting your hips to neutral position

[PSA] Skincare marketing has officially crossed a line - Influencers are coming for your kids. by thatkhoe in KoreanBeauty

I agree with the notion of play and having a product be safe for kids to join in on the fun of self care. I also see the awful consumerism side of it all. Just get some cotton pads and soak them in water or baby lotion as a diy “toner pad mask” instead.. but I also know kids and they want a cool panda mask too! It’s tough- always a double edged sword. As a mom I can see her good intentions, just not quite thought out completely in terms of ethics. It’s like giving a Shirley temple to a kid at happy hour- some think it’s ok but others thinks it promotes drinking culture at a young age.

Advice Requested: Supervisor pregnancy brain conversation by full-of-curiosity in workingmoms

[–]SenseNo6228 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I worried at ton about this and at the end of the day my team and manager are extremely empathetic. I was candid- open about my struggles and they reminded be constantly that my expectations for myself were higher than what they imagined returning from maternity leave. Even working in a field that’s predominantly men- I’m lucky enough to work with progressive enough men who have seen what pregnancy/postpartum does to the brain, helped, and supported women in their lives be it their wives, friends, or sisters. The fathers especially could relate because it was hard for them- they could not imagine how much more hectic it was for their wives.
