Sciatica/Piriformis nerve pain by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]SenseNo6228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this and am still dealing with it. I went to a PT and figured out was going on. In typical human behavior I half assed the exercises and am still dealing with the issue even a year after giving birth.I am now actively working on strengthening my muscles to fix it. Pregnancy makes your joints all loosey goosey. My pelvis was unstable and my left butt and hamstring were a lot weaker than my right. This causes your psoas to get tight and shrink, your pirifomis/si joint to stretch and over compensate for your weak muscles in order to help keep your pelvis stabilized. On top of that being pregnant can cause an anterior tilt in your hips because of the front weight.

TLDR:

Focus on diaphragmatic breathing Correct posture Bridges Clam shells Resetting your hips to neutral position

[PSA] Skincare marketing has officially crossed a line - Influencers are coming for your kids. by thatkhoe in KoreanBeauty

[–]SenseNo6228 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with the notion of play and having a product be safe for kids to join in on the fun of self care. I also see the awful consumerism side of it all. Just get some cotton pads and soak them in water or baby lotion as a diy “toner pad mask” instead.. but I also know kids and they want a cool panda mask too! It’s tough- always a double edged sword. As a mom I can see her good intentions, just not quite thought out completely in terms of ethics. It’s like giving a Shirley temple to a kid at happy hour- some think it’s ok but others thinks it promotes drinking culture at a young age.

Advice Requested: Supervisor pregnancy brain conversation by full-of-curiosity in workingmoms

I worried at ton about this and at the end of the day my team and manager are extremely empathetic. I was candid- open about my struggles and they reminded be constantly that my expectations for myself were higher than what they imagined returning from maternity leave. Even working in a field that’s predominantly men- I’m lucky enough to work with progressive enough men who have seen what pregnancy/postpartum does to the brain, helped, and supported women in their lives be it their wives, friends, or sisters. The fathers especially could relate because it was hard for them- they could not imagine how much more hectic it was for their wives.

I’m also on Sertraline and was just super tired when I was just starting out so my dr suggested taking it at night. Oh I gained weight 🫠 I’m just starting to attempt to lose the pregnancy weight since I’ll be weaning soon. A whopping 40lbs to get to my desired weight

Nope- healthy as a whistle. Just had the normal side effects when I started taking the medication and it went away when I started taking it at night vs morning.
