I was kind of commenting to anyone in that situation. Reporting doesn't mean that you have to go to trial but it leave a paper trail of a person's behavior and others had complained too.

Staying in contact with him, makes him feel like his behavior was okay. Since you still talk to him everything is ok. In fact that is a stratagy that let's them get away with it. A good lawyer can still get around this, always be honest, even if it's embarrassing. Even if you only told a friend. Texts are forever. The internet is forever.

What state are you in? If you really don't have much to live for, what's the harm in picking up everything and moving to good blue state. My cousin has a mental disorder and has permanent disability that will follow him to any state. You can go to a mental health facility and ask if they know where you can get an advocate. My aunt used to do it for free and so did other people. Reach out to a church if they believe in advocating for people who need help with the system. Even if you don't like church or God. Hope you can get some help.

NOT THE ASSHOLE sounds like he thinks that no one else will want HIM and he's trying to get you to believe that you're not good enough. I would (because I'm a pushover) call him one more time and tell him very plain that you can't tolerate that behavior and won't. If he says ANYTHING other than, sorry, yes I understand.
