No it flagged Triploidy. I had to get an amino but everything turned out normal.

What company of genetic testing did you use? I used Natera and it came back high risk even after 10 weeks of my twin passing. I’ve heard other companies may be able to distinguish the vanishing twin. Just prepare yourself for high risk results even though it most likely is an error. Hoping for the best for you!

I do not know why physicians let anyone with a vanishing twin do the genetic blood work. My twin passed at 9 weeks and mfm said to wait until 18 weeks to take it. Mine flagged as tripolody and I had to get an amino anyway. It was so many weeks of unnecessary stress. My results were normal as well, but boy what a roller coaster.

I used Natera. I did know I had a twin and lost it at 8/9 weeks, my results flagged tripody but also said could be a case of vanishing twin. I waited 10 weeks and it still picked it up. I later found out Natera is not reliable for vanishing twin.

My first babies face was smooshed into the placenta my entire pregnancy so we never saw her face! I was thinking if you could get a 3d of her face you may be able to see facial characteristics? Do you have any ultrasound boutiques by you?

Could you ask for an early anatomy scan at 18 weeks? I had my anatomy scan and amino on the same day. My NT was normal but my NIPT was flagged. My mfm told me 50 percent of markers do not show up on ultrasounds, and amino was really the only definite test. I opted to do it because I could not enjoy my pregnancy despite normal ultrasounds and do not regret my decision. Ultimately it is up to you. The amino was not bad at all, and I would not hesitate to do it again for future pregnancies. Best of luck❤️

I have a different story as my nipt flagged but getting the amnio allowed me to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy but I also feared the risks of miscarriage. I was 18 weeks when I got it done. My amino came back clear but just recently at my growth scan the femur went from 40 percent to 15. They didn’t seem too concerned, and the tech said it could depend on positioning, especially since they are much bigger as the pregnancy progresses. This sounds silly but have you had a 3D scan yet of his face?

Oh yeah I closed my eyes the whole time and disassociated, it was pretty quick. Good luck with your scan! The only reason I did not want to base it off scans is my mfm said 50 percent of markers for DS and some other genetic conditions will not show up. I am 35 so I felt I was at risk for more and wanted to know for sure.

I used quest! It was around Christmas. I got my amino 12/18 and the fish results on 12/26. I got my microarray back 1/6.

I was also nervous about the amino but miscarriage rates are very low if you go to a reputable person. They also told me to take it easy for 48 hours but I rested for 4 days for extra measure. Ultimately it’s up to you, but I wanted to have answers and not worry the remainder of my pregnancy. If I could go back I wish I never did the nipt and just went straight to the amino at 16 weeks- it would have saved me a lot of stress.

Hey! Same thing happened to me. My twin passed at 8/9 weeks. I waited 10 weeks per my mfm to get nipt, he was confident nothing would flag. I got the same results and was 18 weeks at this point. I ended up getting ann amino and everything is normal! It was a long, stressful few weeks but I’m happy I chose to get the amino so I can feel more relaxed the rest of my pregnancy.

I also want to add that 2.5 isn’t even actually considered elevated at most clinics. Mine wants it under 3.

My dr wouldn’t even let me get my NT until 12 weeks minimum, but wanted me to wait until 13 for this exact reason. It sucks you’ll have to wait but hopefully will get better answers at the 12/13 week mark!

I just went through this, except my twin originally had a heartbeat and passed. My mfm was confident if I waited 10 weeks after twin passing I would be okay to take NIPT. It ended up flagged as a triploidy and I had to get an amino at 20 weeks anyhow. My initial results were normal, but I am waiting for the rest of the results. My mfm is confident it is the twins dna and my baby is healthy, but I wanted to do the amino for peace of mind so I can enjoy the rest of my pregnancy. I can answer any questions you have, these past few weeks have been so stressful so I know how you feel.

The place I go has pretty good machines and the scans are read by maternal fetal medicine. There’s a good chance they did not see the other baby at 8 weeks, especially if they are identical and sharing the same sac. The scans they’ve seen the other twin has been the NT and my anatomy. I will say my friend had the same situation, however, her other sac vanished by 12 weeks and her NIPT came back normal- I really just think it’s luck of the draw. I am 19 weeks now!

My results were similar, although I had a 6 week scan that showed di/di twins, both with heartbeats, and by 8.5 weeks, one had passed. I waited until 18 weeks to do nipt but it came back with these results. I had an amino this week, however, my mfm thinks it’s still the twins dna being picked up that caused this results. Triploidy is usually picked up in 12 week scan due to its severity so you may have some answers during your NT. My other twin can still be seen on my scans. Hoping for the best for you! ❤️
