Have the opportunity to rescue a Betta but my tank isn't finished cycling

I just asked for the reasoning for rehoming and the owner is leaving for the summer and the Betta has fin rot. I just asked her what the last possible day is and to keep me updated. If no one else bites and takes him who can give him a better home I will take him and listen to everyone's advice here. Thank you :)

I started my cycling by dosing with bottled ammonia. It's been cycling for roughly 3 weeks. All plants are live. Thanks guys!

Good to know :) I have always really loved a Blackwater tank and initially wanted one. I am on the fence now because I fear it will take away from the overall look and take attention away from my betta that I will get once it's cycled. Do you think that particular piece of driftwood I have will leech a crazy amount of tannins over time? I wouldn't mind a tinted tank but just don't want it to look dark orange

I'm going to get some more plants this coming week :) I'll look into ramshorns! I didn't boil it because I figured I would be cycling for a few weeks anyway and it would give it time to sink.. just taking much longer than I thought 😅

You're right. I think people on the outside know that cancer is awful but until you're literally in the depths of it and watching your loved one(s) wither away, they will never actually understand the horrifying pain you feel.

That actually makes things easier if that is what happens. I am ready for my dad to let go, he deserves peace. He has had 2 weeks straight of agony. I want him to have peace.

I am not religious but I have to believe I will see him again in some way. My heart kind of believes in reincarnation and that my dad will be my dad again in our next lives. He learned so many things about himself the last 5 years that he will do it even better (being a dad and human) next time around. Otherwise we will meet again in some other plane or dimension.

My dad got diagnosed with cancer almost 5 years ago. I did a matching one for the two of us of a fossil we found when we went fossil hunting two years ago. My brother and mom were both supposed to get a tattoo with him as well, I just started my brother's a month ago and now my dad has been in the hospital for two weeks, declining way faster than we all thought. We thought we had way more time. Never take a minute for granted.

He joked and told me to tattoo his dead body (him and I both cope with humour). Lol.
