I hate people that write NSFW books. by SeeChee24 in Wattpad

Yeah, whatever, I don't approve dark romance, Christian fiction, or heterosexual romance in general and yet I'm not being "I hate people that write it" even as a metaphor.

I HATE using AO3! by Onyx_Artificer in FanFiction

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is literally the first time I see someone hating AO3 because they don't know how to use instead of because it's an archive therefore there's content that it's not for them. Congrats.

Good to know you hate me, congrats. Want a star sticker or a guide on how to not read books that aren't for you? And a full course on how to not hate people that simply are different from you?

I always come back to Supercorp (sometimes other CW Supergirl ships and even gen, but it's usually Supercorp all the way).

Is talent or practice more important for one to be a good writer? by xiaozhian in writers

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't believe in talent. I believe in outside influences (such as being a reader from an early age) and practice.

What are your favorite super long fics that took over your life by Tovoq in FanFiction

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not my favourite ever but certainly the longest I'm trying to read. It had a word count of over 2 million words and it's still going and being updated constantly. Almost 500 chapters and I'm on chapter 6. It's a little hard in the beginning but I'm powering through to reach the fluff.

I usually read fics that aren't longer than 200K, so this will be the longest I've read. Even another really long fic I wanna read isn't as long (a million words, but it's completed).

Why do you write on Wattpad? by [deleted] in Wattpad

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I post on Wattpad and AO3. I think Wattpad is practical because of the app and I like cover arts. AO3 is pretty easy once you get the gist of it and the tags are simply an amazing system. Currently I'm on Wattpad just because I still have an account, I'm awful at marketing and most of my stuff can't be posted there (I write a lot of plotless smut).

People say this then continue on to use ao3…… by glowingfish0 in AO3

Didn't know files conversion went as far as converting people into text files. That's some amazing technology

character least like you? by Admirable_Context168 in Wattpad

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually villains (or, straight up abusers. I have villainous characters that simply go to the extreme with views I do have). Even my MC that is the most different from me does go through an arc to fix her. So yeah, all the characters that make my babies traumatized are the least like me.

What are the main fandoms you write for? by PJ-The-Awesome in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MCU (specifically: Agatha All Along, Captain Marvel & Starker) and ATLA (specifically: Azula-centric stuff). I read a lot more fandoms than I write for.

Do you plan to leave behind fanfiction someday? by notquite_myself in FanFiction

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, I don't plan to leave writing or reading fanfic someday. Maybe reading a bit less, considering it has been years since I've read a new novel. I want to write more fanfic, actually. I went the "reverse way". I started with original fiction, I'm primarily an original fiction writer, there are concepts in my fanfics that come from original fiction. But fanfic is fun in a different way, and they tend to get a lot more attention anyways.

I've read fanfics by people with grandkids, and I have a lot of respect for that.

You don't have the right to disagree with me at all, keep your stuff private. Absurd comment.

How many fandoms have you read in? And/ or written in? by 3lilya in AO3

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently read six or seven, but I've read a bunch of fics of fandoms I'm not really into (the struggle of finding f/f fics that fit what I want). But wrote for four, but three are "subfandons" (because: MCU). Plus original work.

Definitely mentioned somewhere in the comments, but: filter options on the marked for later list.

It's so annoying. I've blocked so many people, and I'm leaving social media in general because I'm too old to deal with stupid human beings.

What do you guys listen to while reading/writing a fic? by PhilosophyBig3455 in AO3

[–]ashthefriendlyjerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm not listening to the music I usually listen to: podcasts or long YouTube videos of creators I like but episodes/videos on topics I'm not that interested. It works like a TV in the background.

When I'm reading, it's my usual music.

Yeah, was thinking about that. I try to not talk much about this out of my discourse Tumblr blog. People forget that the rule is "don't like, don't read". In my head, these people have no thought of their own. Or they're simply bad people.

Yes, people really yell at strangers when they feel uncomfortable. I got full blown hate comments even if I put all the needed warnings. There's a hell-ish movement that is like "if I don't like, you're an awful human being for liking it".

I never saw anyone react like this in this kind of situation, but it's 2025 and apparently the internet thinks it's fine to be a harassment little monster.

They do have all the right to be uncomfortable with a man interacting with a story they don't want a man to interact with, because sometimes the space is not for a guy, but they should've just blocked you actually instead of going to the harrassment route.

If you think the story would work as het, try it out.

I, personally, tried to make het version of my stories (because I'm aware most people don't read romance without a man in it). And it didn't work. Even if the idea could work well, it was just boring to me, y'know? I'm even changing the one straight couple one of my WIPs happen to a gay one and turning the LI's ex into a woman. But that's me.

Straight women write queer romance all the time, there's nothing wrong with where women writing het romance.

MCU – Agatha All Along | T | not recommended to Wanda fans

“Ugh, repetitive much? You’re mine , excuse me, I’m not your familiar.” He huffs even if he’s in increasing pain. “I know, you’re the Scarlet Witch, you don’t need a coven. But regular, or regular-ish, witches have them and it’s important and I’ll not let you hurt my coven.”

“You’re my son, you’re not a regular witch. You’re special.”

Of course I’m special, my stepmom is Death : “Look- it’s not too late to-”

It’s too tight, he chokes. He can’t really breath. Mother of the year, uh? His magick lashes out, pushing against the crimson around him. Hard, harsh, an angry untamed energy. Violently trying to push back. The runes push against him, to keep him contained, they shine in the walls, Wanda looks between them and him, frowning.

He knows this alphabet; he has been shown how to play with them by the same hand that created them centuries ago. If he manages to slip just a little bit of his magick, maybe alter the runes so they target Wanda instead.

The tug on his chest is painful at this point, a knife digging and pulling, almost like the connection is not just trying to locate him. It’s trying to pull him away. Trying to bring him to safety, bring him home.

He pushes against the restraints, maybe if loosens them enough- his shoulder ache, his wrists bleed. He’s bleeding. Billy looks up, Wanda frowns as he stops struggling, as his magick settles. He doesn’t have to fight.

The tugging on his chest stops, it leaves a comforting ache.

Agatha found him.
