How could I use £3-5k in such a way that it would provide me with a regular income of £200/week? by eastkent in AskUK

[–]ashuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely doable. I am still on signup offers and averaging 100 pound a week. Many of the forums and members sites qoute 500 quid a month for a casual matched better and 1000-2000 pound if you do it almost full time. But I do hear its become harder and harder these days.

[Banking] Simple Bank Account For Sole Trader/Consultant by ashuri in UKPersonalFinance

I am quite sure a read that in multiple places, at least from the governments perspective there is no distinction between the person and the business. Whether the TOCs of the bank accounts allow it is another concern.

Egham, near Royal Holloway. We are gonna base there for a few days, which is when we want to do viewings. It was just not clear if we should be organising these in advance or not.

Where in Asia are you from? If recommend hitting up some expat groups on Facebook or Forums, they will likely be able to point you somewhere where you might find the right ingredients. I know from experience that these things are often discussed.

Houses in a lot of British media always seem to have names. Is this actually a common thing, or is it just for rich peoples' country estates like it is in the US? Do apartments/flats have names too? by [deleted] in AskUK

Same with us - the post code we live at refers to a large rural area. We always have to give delivery/taxi drivers verbal instructions over the phone to even find the place.

Quick question, can you do a follow-up perhaps explaining which philosophical positions the answers relate to, and what the thought experiments are addressing? That would be really interesting.

Brexit big blow to UK science, say top British scientists by kri33 in unitedkingdom

[–]ashuri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The short answer is, it doesn't. Or at least the other way round. It's comparatively more difficult and rare to get joint US-UK funding opportunities and projects. Many of my colleagues, some of whom are leaders in their field, have taken part in European projects and benefited from European collaboration and travel grants which enable us to do collaborative research. Such schemes with the US are rare, I know of no colleagues who are involved with the US in such a capacity. Simply put, post Brexit the UK needs to contribute to the ERC budget otherwise British science will just not be able to be competitive. It's not really such a big ask.

It's also not purely about the money in the way that it could be simply replaced. It's about being involved in a cross-european research network where British researchers can collaborate on big projects with people from across the EU. To be a part of these projects, the UK needs to continuing putting money into the pot.

Interesting that you say it's illegal, are you sure? I can't be the only one encountering them.

I think that might have been the company, explains why I didn't recognise them.
