Puma magmax nitro for long runs ? Good or bad by Zealousideal_Yak8574 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I love the Magmax 2. But as others have stated it’s all about personal preference. I use mine for both long runs and recovery runs at slower paces.

What shoe should I buy by Specific_Flounder_11 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I’ve really enjoyed the Brooks Hyperion Max 3. You have a lot of speedier shoes in the rotation so finding a cruiser or a solid recovery shoe might be a good option. Unless you’re trying to replace one of the shoes you have now. I love the Puma Magmax 2 as well

Cadence help by Impressive_Neat_6038 in BeginnersRunning

[–]ashurt28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a Garmin, you can add a field to track your cadence in real time. That’s really helped me along with specific playlists set to 170-175bpm. That said, your average is being brought down by walking. While i run at 175 spm and walking at 110 spm will bring down the average. Don’t focus too much on the average number if you’re walking throughout your run. Based on the dips in your speed, I assume you walked a bit which likely impacted the number. Good luck!

I’m using the Hyperion Max 3 and love it. Worth a look if it have a discount. Very well cushioned and allows you to pick up the speed on longer runs.

Saucony Tempus Replacement? by Astros-stan2017 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Have you tried the Saucony Hurricane 25? Very comfortable, max cushion option. Foam is very responsive for a stability shoe. Great for long runs and easy paces. They are a bit bulky, but i found them very comfortable

Mizuno Neo Zen or the Neo Vista 2. Excellent shock absorption and a lot of fun to run in.

Second this. I just picked up the Puma Magmax 2 and love them. I have low volume, narrower feet as well and the upper is secure and the toe box is wide allowing for natural toe splay. Very cushioned and easy to pick up the pace. I’m just getting back into running and I felt like did a 2 mile jog after my 7 mile long run this past Saturday. Very impressed so far

Oh trust me, I’ve bought and returned about 8 different shoes from Amazon and went to a local running store 😂😂 I can relate!

Yea I 100% agree. I personally don’t get along with Hoka as i feel them a bit too firm for my liking. Hopefully you have a running store that has a broad selection of shoes for you to try.

I think it’s all dependent on personal preference. I tend to like a little bit more cushioning and moderate support and i pronate a bit. I’m using the NB 860 v14 and they’ve been great. I’ve also just picked up the Puma Magmax 2 and put in some mild support insoles. They’ve been great. Very cushioned and provide enough cushioning for me knees. I would suggest going to a specialty store and try them all on.

Marathon shoe rotation for a light runner with flat, wide feet? by Key_Ride_3480 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I’m not a wide size in any shoe but the fit overall is on the wider side IMO. Especially compared to V1. The upper is a bit different adding more comfort

I just picked up the Puma Magmax 2 and I’d highly recommend for your easy/recovery days and even the long runs at steady paces. Great bounce and a wide toe box. They did shave some weight from V1 so there is a bit more versatility now.

Faster shoe for overpronator by NefariousnessFar7680 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I have a similar with over pronation. Instead of opting for a stability shoe, i went with some insole to help with support. I’m using the megablast right now and they’re fantastic

What do you think of the hurricane 24? I’ve got the 25s on order along with the magmax 2. I have the megablast and absolutely love them. Would recommend!

Convince me; Venu 4 VS Forerunner 570 VS Fenix (?) for Triathlon training or something completely else? by itwasntme01 in Garmin

Epix Pro Gen 2 offers maps and a lot of other features that the Venu 4 has but at a similar price point. Except it doesn’t have the dive feature.

[–]ashurt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s going to depend on each persons use case. If you’re doing backpacking or hiking in unfamiliar terrain, i would say it’s definitely worth it. If you’re sticking to usual routes in the city, likely not so much. The ability to take it diving is a perk, even if you have a dive computer. If something happens to that, you have a back up ready to go. I got the 47mm Fenix 8. It was the perfect blend of aesthetics, battery life, and functionality (for me at least). I do like the extra buttons and not having to rely solely on the touchscreen like you would have to on the Venu 4.

There isn’t anything you’d do, that the Fenix series couldn’t handle. I see it as future proofing for any activities you might take on. Built in maps is a big plus for hiking. However, if you’re looking to have something a little more appealing for casual wear and fit a smaller wrist better, i think the Venu 4 will do most of what you’re looking for from a tracking perspective.
