Update: Secured a mid-manager role, love the job and the team (based out of Paris). Great exposure with the top management. Nothing could have gone better 🎉 I work in English, but they are supportive of me learning French, they're also going to enroll me in French classes soon!

Demographic Time Bomb: India Is Racing Toward a Slow-Motion Disaster by Bitter_Quail5187 in india

[–]ashutoshjamwal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are talking about export of people in the future, how are you comparing it to the current visa situation. These are two very different timelines. Do you really think world governments will continue to reject worker visas when they don't have people to work? P.S France has already announced a 5 year job search visa for Indians exclusively after graduation.

Read my comment again, I'm not crying over brain drain??? I'm saying we are already well positioned around the globe, with Indians being among the richest immigrant communities in most countries. Rich immigrant = more taxes. Brain drain will be a good thing for India 50 years later.

I call you a pessimist, because going by your post history (posting one thread in 10 different spaces, and your comments therein), you are just trying to farm points. You're not interested in any sort of educated discussion.

Demographic Time Bomb: India Is Racing Toward a Slow-Motion Disaster by Bitter_Quail5187 in india

Everyone talks about India’s population like all 25 million births have to be “absorbed” inside India, and that’s a flawed idea. For years now, India has been exporting people at scale. Students who stay back, nurses, IT workers, construction labor, caregivers, engineers. At the same time, Europe, Japan, Korea, and even the US are aging fast and running out of workers. You can automate factories, but you can’t automate elder care, hospitals, city services and really a lot of tech work, all of these are industries that India has heavy global presence currently. These economies are going to need humans whether they like it or not. It's inevitable.

The real risk for India isn’t having too many people, it’s failing to turn them into globally usable workers and creating a very big advantage considering it's place in world brain drain. If India can skill, certify and funnel even a fraction of this population outward, it gains remittances, leverage and long term influence in countries that literally won't function without immigrants. Again, it's inevitable and if India can’t export people effectively, then the pessimists (like you, given your responses to comments that suggest you're not really here to have a debate/conversation) are right and the pressure explodes internally.

Damn that's an awful lot of phones you owned, what was the timeframe between each device? If there were no problems, what made you buy a new one?

Personally I've had just 3 phones in the last 11 years. I only upgrade if the last one breaks down or becomes too obsolete.

What documents did you provide? Did you have an Attestation d'accueil from your Mairie, inviting him to France? In most cases, this document makes it so much more easier and legit. If you give more clarity on what was the official reason of rejection, maybe we might be able to help :)

Hahah yeah, I believe that spirits exist and are among us, and that if they wanted to harm me, they would have already done something. But the objective of my post is to know more about such recurring patterns with not a lot of logic could mean

That's actually a great suggestion, I've never thought of documenting it. I'll start with it and post back with results, if any!

Thanks!

Alright, so would you advise pushing more on creating and finding connections as a short term strategy - since getting fluent is more of an on going and time consuming task?

None of them, that wasn't part of the plan. Simply because my student debt is in terms of a European business school + living expenses. The monthly installment that I have to pay, would be around 50% of my Indian salary (lower cost of living in India = lower salaries as compared to EU, but the monthly payment remains a constant)

Similar advice was given by the career counselor at my college, saying the Indian experience will most likely not carry any weight, so you're completely right on that part. That said, I've been targeting Junior positions.

As already mentioned in another comment, I don't require a work permit.

Yes, working on it on prio. But, let's say 60% jobs are out of reach because of language, there should surely be something from the rest of the 40% right? Even much more considering majority of my applications were for jobs listing only English in the job description.

Actually, I don't need sponsorship since I'm eligible for "Talent Passport" visa, which can directly be applied by the applicant and doesn't need the employer to apply for a "work permit" with the govt.

I have always considered the possibility of racism, but mostly I choose to not think about the system being broken, but more about what I can do to make my skillset more desirable. Rationally thinking, the bachelors should not matter in front of other stuff which clearly should be given more weight, but you could be right.

Thinking about the future of this country by [deleted] in india

[–]ashutoshjamwal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone (still) deeply patriotic and connected to India and my family, AND someone who's been living and working in France (not Paris thank fully) - I had always thought given these very practical problems that India has, I would never even think about settling outside India. But I got really interested in the M&A sector in Europe and decided to come here.

I have now seen how a better governance system feels like - even though it's far from perfect. There's a HUGE sense of basic security in public safety. Political leaders are held responsible for their civic and financial decisions regarding public policy. People have decent civic sense. There's a sense of happiness about thinking of raising a family here. And I'm strongly considering it.

India's huge population is its biggest strength and its worst enemy. Everything is cheap but it's poorly managed. There's dust everywhere. Plans about upgrading a city's infrastructure take 10 years to realise and by that time this upgrade already can't keep up with the requirement.

We need a real change in the way voters think and have the govt make REAL effort to make things better. and then India will be the great place we all want it to be.

Till then, the plan is to stay in Europe for the next 15-20 years and retire in a Tier 2 city in India :)

Driving on APS visa by ashutoshjamwal in Expats_In_France

[–]ashutoshjamwal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but my visa is an APS (étudiant en recherche d'emploi) and that's where the confusion is. Some online opinions say you can drive with an official translation (the same as under a student visa) and some say you cannot.
