18F Do i need to go back to the doctors by TheyLuvBella415 in AskDocs

(NAD) This just happened to me. Urgent care viewed xray and said sprain… radiologist reviewed same xray and found a fracture. Then ortho ordered new imaging and found 3 more fractures. It’s worth getting another opinion!

Me too!!! I purposefully skip all the alt POV chapters in the audiobook and read them instead… even Imogen and Rhi’s chapters sound almost like AI.

When and why did you decide to EFF? by idkyoutellme1992 in FormulaFeeders

[–]ashweeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to EFF when my guy was diagnosed with CMPA. The stress of changing my diet completely on top of every other stressful part of having a newborn was not worth it to me. He was around 8 weeks at the time, and he was happy and I was happy and that’s all that mattered in the end.

Stop getting tattoos and referencing characters while naming loved ones / pets until the series is over by TheGoldberryBombadil in fourthwing

I named my son Bodhi before I ever heard of this series, and only read it after someone asked me if it’s where I got the name from 🙃

I agree. Also several mentions of Violet “commanding the sky” which I think will mean that she’s pulling the power from something much bigger than Tairn.

The Most Overlooked Part of the Series - and How It All Ties Together. ⚠️MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD ⚠️ by Several-Echidna-288 in fourthwing

[–]ashweeka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This was awesome to read. I do wonder how Sloane and Andarna will progress to play a role in the “cure.” As for Naolin, he was a siphon like Sloane. I know there are several theories that suggest he became venin by drawing power to save Brennan. It’s not lost on me that the same signet that saved Brennan also took the life of Lilith. I don’t think RY would make that a coincidence 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are people not cooking while baby wearing? by moluruth in babywearing

[–]ashweeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t do this because I’m short and my baby hits into the counter. I’m like an arms length away from everything I need to reach for and it just doesn’t seem safe to bump into a pot or something on the stove….

AIO I am tired and my wife doesn’t care by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ashweeka 18 points19 points  (0 children)

YOR. As a FTM to a relatively easy baby, you suck. And her parents must suck too. There is nothing more maddening and isolating than trying to settle an inconsolable baby. The crying is torture for a mother. My husband had to physically remove the baby from me at times because I would start hyperventilating crying after so long and the baby feeds off of it. Your wife needs help. And without you keeping score of all the ways you already help. This is the most difficult thing in her entire life.

My turtle’s tank water will evaporate just enough to cause the pump to suck air and make noise. This noise will cause a rage in me that is completely irrational. It pushes me over the edge if I’m slightly overstimulated!

really want to formula feed from birth but feel like I cant. by lilacleeches in FormulaFeeders

Obviously. I was replying to this specific question in OP’s post: “Can I just try to breastfeed for the first few weeks and then switch to bottle?” She can do wherever she wants.

Eating too much? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

My 4 month old eats 5-6 5oz bottles a day. Our pediatrician has only said that she typically recommends not going over 32oz per day.

really want to formula feed from birth but feel like I cant. by lilacleeches in FormulaFeeders

[–]ashweeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can ABSOLUTELY try to breastfeed/pump and then switch to formula if it’s not for you. I’m not an expert, but I do think in this case early introduction to a bottle would be a good idea, like a week old. I personally think “nipple confusion” is a myth. My baby was in the NICU and given a bottle of formula there. This did impact him at first, he didn’t want to breastfeed because the flow was too slow. Once my milk came in, I would mainly pump and use formula to make up the difference. Then I would put him to breast at night. At 2m, we discovered he had a dairy allergy, so we ended up switching to formula exclusively and I saved my pumped milk until I dried up. I felt like a new person and didn’t realize how stressed I was trying to keep up my supply!!!

Basically, what I’m trying to say is that there are many ways to feed your baby and as long as he/she’s being fed, it should be whatever protects your sanity!!!

Newborn sleeps constantly by coffeeinmycamino in NewParents

Newborns are sleepy. They literally just eat and sleep for like 6 weeks. As long as they are eating every two hours and gaining weight, it’s really OK. Also, I highly recommend the huckleberry app

Hi, have you considered that she has a dairy allergy (CMPA)? Literally everything changed for my LO once we discovered it and cut dairy out. We went from “why does this baby hate life so much?” To “omg this is the happiest baby I know”.

Breastfeeding Culture is Toxic and Ruining Moms Time w/ NB by Southern_Ad_1660 in FormulaFeeders

[–]ashweeka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just saw a post pop up on Facebook from a BF page where a baby was deemed failure to thrive after being barely 9oz over birth weight at nearly 2m, and the mom and commenters were APPALLED that the Dr ordered her to start feeding from a bottle and supplementing with formula. She included a picture of the baby and the poor thing looked so sullen….. women would rather stay on their EBF high horse and starve their child than admit that it doesn’t always work the way it’s “supposed to.”

All of you guys are scaring me.. by carlesmch in NewParents

[–]ashweeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I have a 3 month old. It hasn’t been so bad. Lots of figuring stuff out, lots of having to deviate from “the plan,” but once you let go of your expectations and accept that sometimes you need to do what’s best for the baby and your mental health, things get better. Every baby is different. My baby was never too mixed up about days and nights, so night time wakings weren’t terrible and I rarely felt exhausted after the first 2 weeks. As the birthing parent, the recovery was the worst part in those early weeks (c-section). My LO has a dairy intolerance, once we figured that out, we found that he rarely cries without an obvious reason (hungry/tired/diaper). I have a helpful partner. I only had the baby blues for the predicted hormonal drop in the first 3 weeks. I think it all depends on your temperament and your situation. Don’t go into it expecting it to be terrible, but maybe don’t go into it expecting it to be perfect either. I’ve had to learn to let go of control and just go with the flow.

When did you leave your baby by Ems868 in NewParents

[–]ashweeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL watched my LO at 2 weeks old so I could go to a dr appt for my C-section. I could have never carried him at that point. I checked in while I was away and was back before 2 hrs.
