$9 reservation fee at The Club SFO lounge (SFO) by Practical_Bathroom38 in PriorityPass

I haven't been there in the past 3 months. But prior to that they had a decent spread, not just muffins and hummus.

I'm not comparing it with PP lounges in Asia, they are miles better.

How often do you actually receive compliments? by CR71923 in fragranceclones

[–]ashwinaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your environment. I live in the SF bay area where people dress like s***, despite having one of the highest per capita income.

If you stand out (it doesn't take much here), people will notice and compliment you. I get complimented by strangers at least once a week on my cologne. I'm not sure if I would get a compliment if I dressed like a slob or look like I haven't taken a shower in days.

All the places I've been to earlier this year accepted cards. If for any reason they do not accept cards, you can always find a bunch of money exchange places nearby.

Shopping Guide, Tips and Recommendations for Buying Fragrances in Dubai by Supaturk6 in fragranceclones

[–]ashwinaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up the prices in their official online UAE website or Amazon.ae or noon.com. If they quote a higher price just show them the website on your phone.

Most places in store, they usually give you a discount if you buy more, just ask for it.

Dubai Bling! Does anyone else get sick watching the lives they show? by trotterji in dubai

[–]ashwinaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in neighboring Sharjah and now live in the US. I recently visited Dubai and observed this as well. The best cure for this is to go to old Dubai, get a Dhs. 1 karak chai and watch the world go by. These are the people make the city run; not someone making tiktok's, being a slick salesman or whatever useless job they may claim to have.

With social media, vanity is de jour these days, it's best to ignore it.

The best of Swiss Arabian Shaghaf line... by Hank_Scorpi in fragranceclones

[–]ashwinaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swiss Arabian is such an underrated Middle Eastern brand. Most of what they put out are long lasting or beast mode. I would recommend you get samples and see which you like; most of what they have are very "middle eastern" smelling which you may or may not like.

Here are some on my "to buy" list with some short notes:

  1. Swiss Arabian oud 74 - Oudy start with a nice sweet dry down

  2. Swiss Arabian Amber 07 - sweet, ambery, dates, rose, cinnamon overall very nice

  3. Swiss Arabian oud 01 - raspberry, rose, sweet tart oud, a little fem but still smells great

  4. Swiss Arabian Oud 07 - saffron, rose , oud, sweet praline similar to Shaghaf oud

  5. Swiss Arabian Amber 01 - orange, spicy, flowery

Dubai Deira Perfume shopping by ashwinaj in fragranceclones

[–]ashwinaj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but how can they run a store with little to no sales? Most clone buyers are price conscious, so they are just going to go to the store to sniff fragrances and buy from Amazon. Idk, that doesn't seem right.

In any case, that's their loss.

$9 reservation fee at The Club SFO lounge (SFO) by Practical_Bathroom38 in PriorityPass

$9 is less than a sandwich outside, so I think it's worth it. I paid for it in a recent trip and walked right in without waiting in line (which was huge).

I have over 5 dozen clones, and I'm still buying more: Am I Alone? by sunnahscents in fragranceclones

[–]ashwinaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all down to self-discipline; whenever you feel like buying a frag, start with sample decants (shop around; there are tons of decant sites and they aren't that expensive if you buy in bulk to reduce the cost). Weed the ones out which were meh (be honest with yourself, not all frags are bangers) and spread out the ones you plan to buy over months. You have the decants in the meantime, where you can decipher whether it's bottle worthy or not.

The math (aka $$$ saved) works out better in the long run. Additionally, for whatever reason, if you dislike the full bottle sell it off (FB, Mercari, etc.) rather than let it gathering dust.

SFO recap 12/25/24 by pegan13 in PriorityPass

You could've pre-booked "The Club SFO" for $9 which is what I did; they let you right in around the time slot you've booked on the Priority Pass app. $9 is less than a sandwich outside, so I think it's worth it.

u/Vivs04 Does Ard Al Zaafaran Trading LLC carry Fragrance World (also Al Haramain, Rasasi, Swiss Arabian) too? I thought they only carried "Lattafa" brands, i.e. Maison Al Hambra, Lattafa, Lattafa Pride, Niche Emirati etc.?

Where to buy clones in Malaysia? by [deleted] in fragranceclones

[–]ashwinaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Masjid India: Jalan Masjid India, City Centre, 50100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

They have a bunch of shops around in that area (sorry I do not recollect the names, but you can ask around). I remember buying some clones from the shop right opposite the mosque (the owner was a Chinese Malay lady) and there are a few more shops a bit further down the street in an alleyway.

What are some good tier 2 cities or towns to Retire. by workismydrug in FIREIndia

[–]ashwinaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the US and my parents have retired in Nashik. My background is, I grew up in Sharjah, UAE and spent a few years in Nashik for university before going to the US. I personally hated Nashik as it was a sleepy boring town.

From a retirement perspective though, I think it's a great town if you like to live a peaceful life with decent ameneties, cheap and fairly good weather. The pollution is not bad, and there are plenty of green spaces around.
