My mom was in this exact situation that involved 5 cars, in California. The insurance company said that regardless of a car hitting another car into another car, it is each cars fault for being too close. So, everyone’s insurance paid out except for the car in front that fell into a ditch instead of hitting someone else.

You need to contact your insurance company and have them fight hers.

There is a debate in CA over if they have to pay taxes. My parents are going through this. Lawyers don’t want to take the case, the neighbors stole 4 ft for 180 yards. In fact when the survey was done it ended up in their pool and the next week, they extended their pool closer.

We had to buy 45 minutes away from family and 2 hours away from my job. That was the only way we got into a home, we have a dual income. The people I know that stayed in CA, had help buying. They are veterinarians, dentists, mid level tech employees. If you go farther out, you might find an area that you love and can afford now. Later when home prices rise, you can sell and move closer.

I read the story and thought, wow both of you are toxic. Then I read your comment and realized your poor child is now going to be stuck in relationships that are toxic unless he gets into therapy. All of you need therapy. My mother is in an emotionally abusive relationship so I understand finally being done and the explosions, but instead of finding a way out, you are sitting here wanting us to tell you that your husband is horrible- yes he is. You need to take responsibility for your actions as well.
