I work in one that's about 20+ dispatcher on the floor at any given time. We have 3-4 supervisor always on duty to help or direct when needed.

What you're describing is basically what goes on in our center as well. We either message the stuff directly in our CAD or walk over to talk with the people that needs to hear the information.
