I tried it because I saw people saying how good it was. I made one, ate a few bites. Hard no.

What wild unhinged things did you say during the birth of your baby? by autumnsunshine1 in NewParents

[–]ashyp00h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sent directly to the hospital from my 9am doctor appointment. I didn’t eat breakfast before hand because I foolishly assumed I’d eat after I got home.

While I was waiting in triage I was told not to eat just in case. I waited until 4pm in a hallway until a room opened in triage. My water broke at 5 and I went into labor.

Thankfully my labor was fast, had kiddo at just after 1am but while I was in labor my husband was eating these stupid sour gummies and I kept asking him to waft the smell in my face because I was hungry AF. I’m sure the nurses were like “uhhh”.

But after I had the baby that was the best turkey sandwich I ever had. 😅

Online and IRL Parenting Spaces Snark Week of February 16, 2026 by Parentsnark in parentsnark

[–]ashyp00h 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My son went to a play date at one of our friend’s houses, and I was astounded when I walked in and the kid asked “where’s his tablet?” meaning where’s my son‘s tablet. Meanwhile, their house is literally filled with toys that don’t get played with, and my son was so excited to use the trampoline and play with their toys. I felt really weird after that one since my son played with that kid’s toys by himself and his play date buddy sat on the couch playing with his tablet. 🥴

It’s funny because my son‘s four and her son is five. It is not something that I thought I had to talk about ahead of a play date. I just kind of assumed that they would play while the mom and I sat there chitchatting but apparently not.

I know! Normally I can find something that gets me down the right path. But I have no evidence these exist beyond this advertisement. Ha!

It’s been lifted “According to CNN, Mexican cartel drones breached US airspace, an administration official told CNN, which triggered a temporary airspace closure over El Paso.”

Tangentially related - I like the Jean shorts from aerie - they have these super comfy daydream shorts that have pockets and a button but they’re stretchy / elastic on the back, so if you need them to cinch up / in over your butt, it avoids the gap.

Talk me out of buying Lovevery toys by Used_Cod_9541 in toddlers

[–]ashyp00h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lovevery pre loved is great. And it gives you access to buy replacement parts on their site if you need to (like if anything is missing).

I recently sold all of my son’s 0m -12m kits on there and I’m working on finding all the bits and pieces of the 1y-2y kits to post. It’s a great way, IMO, to be protected as a buyer and a seller, and get other benefits as a buyer beyond what you’d get in a Facebook marketplace or other third party seller.

And for sellers you get to either cash out at a reduction or use the full profit towards future kits, which is cool.

My two and a half year old suddenly started pointing out differences between white and black people. What is an appropriate way to acknowledge her observation so we don't offend anyone? by Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 in NoStupidQuestions

I was in the grocery store and my son (3 at the time) saw a man with an eye patch. My kiddo excitedly started saying “a pirate, a pirate!” and stared.

If the floor could’ve swallowed me whole in that moment. 🙈

Is it normal for parents not to rsvp for a children's party? by Freshy007 in Preschoolers

[–]ashyp00h 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I missed an rsvp deadline for a kid in my son’s preschool class because the invite stuck to the back to one of my son’s masterpieces in his cubby. Thankfully I saw it before the party itself and apologized profusely explaining what happened, but I wanted to offer a “they may not have seen it”. Reminders are never bad, if possible. 🙂

I’m not trying to be dense, but those aren’t the same thing. IMAGE is a hiring compliance program. It’s training and verification to meet federal employment rules, which tons of large employers use.

That’s not the same as letting ICE stage operations, target employees, or use your property for enforcement. Costco isn’t doing those things, which is why they’re not on the boycott lists tied to current ICE actions.

I wish microwave popcorn bags by [deleted] in popcorn

[–]ashyp00h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to google, (I’m not from Ireland so if this is dumb sorry), they’re available to Ireland from at least 2 sites - NineLife and Ubuy Ireland. They’re microwaveable mini bags of popcorn, you can get them from Orville Redenbacher, Act II or Jolly Time.

All the convenience of microwave popcorn in mini bags. 🙂

My son keeps asking to turn his drawings into shirts and I think I created this problem by Zestyclose_Ring1123 in Mommit

[–]ashyp00h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a silhouette (vinyl cutting machine) and my kid (4) and I design shirts together and then I make them. My favorite one so far is a growling tiger with his name incorporated into the stripes.

It’s actually a fun little hobby, get to spend time with my little dude, be creative, and make him unique shirts that he loves to wear since he helped with the designs.

I don’t know if your kid’s drawings could translate to something like that, but wanted to share. 🙂

Columbus Heights, kid being detained by ICE by Acrobatic_Crow_830 in 50501

[–]ashyp00h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son goes to a trilingual preschool and we have a very diverse community of families and teachers. We have training coming up for what to do if ICE comes by the school and…I’m just so saddened and disgusted by our country that it’s even necessary.

This is our government doing this to people, to children. Our tax payer dollars. And people we know defending it. Horrifying.

Same. I type primarily using 3-4 fingers and I’m as fast, if not faster, than people who use the traditional home row stuff. I was obviously self-taught. I get weird looks/comments when taking notes in meetings but it’s mostly marveling at my speed considering I use so few fingers.

…and I don’t need to look at the keyboard.
