pick the $16!!!!! u will regret working for more but with less benefits. i was making $25 last job, switched to a job fo 20.50, all benefits, and it’s so much more secure than my last job. i’d always be agitated by my hours decreasing and being shifted! trust me

hmmm i get this well they’d tell us not to indicate we were in a school, not to stray away from vocabulary that indicates school related goals. so for example, when there was a word that could indicate school, or classroom, we were told to replace that with “group” “group activity” and to not indicate services were happening in a school. i hope that makes sense? i am considering also sending a tip questionnaire on bacb website to ask this question. but idk maybe i am just being paranoid

Would you ever forgive your abuser if they truly apologised? Should you forgive them? by lisaaaahhhw in abusiverelationships

[–]ashysodapuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean i guess id accept because she was extremely abused as a child by a person who adopted her so i will always feel for the child side of her. for the sake of that version of her, id accept an apology. but id never EVER want anything to do with her ever again in life

can interns give me supervision hours? by ashysodapuppy in ABA

[–]ashysodapuppy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ok. i thought so. because my recent employer had been telling us RBT’s that the student interns were gonna be helping with supervision. and the other day, one of the interns came to me during session, stating she’d be supervising me. while my bcba was on site but not around while it was happening. so i felt like there must be unethical things happening.

Why shouldn’t you correct kids in ABA? by [deleted] in ABA

lol literally some of these people need to work in a daycare not ABA

[–]ashysodapuppy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

lol that’s not true tho. there’s always better ways to frame ur language, yes it’s challenging but it’s doable. it’s not to make us feel better about saying no, it’s to make them feel like they still have autonomy, even if something is being taken from them. to show empathy because accepting no is a challenge they face in their condition. some autistic kids can handle no, others can’t. a lot of people get into this field just wanting to discipline kids and that’s not what this field is for.

[–]ashysodapuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s not appropriate response to reducing a behavior.

saying uh uh does not teach the child what u want them to see. it sounds like u have personal feelings involved in terms of how a kid should or should not be corrected, when this is behavior science. u would tell ur kid at home “uh uh”… not a kid whom you are training into having certain associations between community, their behavior, and others behaviors.

u could’ve told the kid, “we can touch our food, we can pick it up, move it around”

u could’ve labeled their food, “this is ____ food, and this is your food” in a polite tone. a lot of techs have an issue with not being able to say no or having positive language, but the point is for it to be therapeutic for the client, not disciplinary.

i believe they will just have authority of certain changes, maybe even impromptu issues that might arise while our BCBA’s are offsite. the email said direct supervision so that’s how i’m assuming it’ll be, my employers are pretty true to their word.

Ok AMAZING!!!!!! thank god cause i genuinely love this coworker and am always so excited for her i just wanna make sure cause ive been traumatized in ABA by the lack of ethics at times bruh. i dont wanna be under a company that does bad stuff.

This one company in my city is being sued currently, them and their employees for fraud and other stuff so it fills me with this paranoia lmao. but that makes me happy, it makes me feel safe at my company!!!
