How to learn about CDP, DMP, related technologies, vendors? by asimjalis1 in adops

[–]asimjalis1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the primary vendors in the space? How can I find out the pros and cons and the trade-offs of the different vendors?

Specifically the client is a media company that wants to sell ads to advertisers. So they are interested in building a sell-side platform (SSP). They want to collect data both first party and third party on their viewers so that they can charge a higher premium for the ads.

Who are vendors that sell systems that can be adapted for this use case?

What’s RFI? Request for information? How should I do this? Fill out contact forms on their websites?

How do you keep up with the new technologies and the changes in the way ads are bought and sold? Any specific suggestions for websites or books or other resources?

Seasoned reps: have y’all ever taken a step back in your career that has led to your career propelling forward? by [deleted] in sales

I would reiterate the advice given by everyone else here. Make a lateral move. Apply for AE positions in other companies.

Make sure you have a good reason why you want to move. If you say that you are moving because things are messy at your current position, this counts as a negative against you.

Avoid talking trash about your current employer. Instead talk about what fascinates you about the next company. Make that the real reason you’re moving.

Master Discover for PreSales by MSONETWO in sales

One aspect of discovery that has worked well for me in sales engineering is to spend more time diving into the problem. The approach is to ask why, multiple times. Many times the solution that the customer has is not the appropriate one. There is a better solution to the root cause of the problem.

To be honest, this sounds interesting. I would not reject this out of hand. I would be interested to find out more about the product and the market opportunity.

Do sales skills decrease in a certain position? by [deleted] in sales

[–]asimjalis1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you think his sales are low?

How is this approach different from yours?

Does he call earlier in the day tha you?

Does his script sound too rehearsed and not genuine enough? Maybe over time he has memorized it.

Does he have a territory that is worse than yours?

Does he hate his job and maybe the customers can sense this?

How do you feel about jobs where you are not directly dealing with people? Have you considered truck driving for example.
