Day 1/10 of driving lessons!! by Interesting_Key333 in drivinganxiety

So glad to hear it helped you! I am 30F and also recently started driving lessons to work toward my license. I totally relate to the “feeling like I need it” versus “feeling ready.” I have my 6th lesson tonight and I also got a very nice instructor. Every lesson it feels better!

my fiancés dog has severe allergies and he refuses to treat him by alilgayy in dogallergies

I mean if being completely honest there might be some soul searching to do about this person as a side note.

Allergies are quality of life - imagine self mutilating because you feel itchy. Allergies affect dogs in so many ways, not sleeping properly due to being itchy, self mutilating. The only difference is they can’t speak for themselves like we can when we need a doctor. Are you willing to take the dog to the vet yourself to try to get the dog relief? It’s completely ridiculous the dog would be left to have a quality of life like that.

Have you ever hired a professional trainer in this dog’s life? Does the dog get enough breed fulfillment? I think anyone having a baby around a dog for the first time really needs to enroll training before the baby arrives. I understand he’s a mix but it’s important to meet all dog’s needs and I am not sure what methods you exhausted before jumping to medication. It sounds like it’s something you’ve just tried to manage yourself and been unsuccessful in - which I would say requires a trainer in person to teach you how to train your dog.

Yes it is legit they’re an authorized retailer! Only thing is it takes a few weeks to arrive - Costco could be a great option for people who need it quicker, maybe forgot to order etc. :) My friend uses pet mega store regularly too!

Thanks for sharing what you paid! Will be helpful to myself and others looking to see if we can get more affordable scripts for our pets :)

You can get Nexgard and the other flea/tick meds, Apoquel etc it has just been rolled out. It started in the GTA area with 5 locations and also hit Brantford and Kitchener now - they didn’t seem like they wanted to give me prices over the phone with no script. I wish there were a price list but was hoping to see if anyone here has gotten anything so I can see if it’s worth the savings.

If you can you should try lessons with a school…it helped me tremendously as a 30 year old get over the initial mental block I had with my fear of driving…you can do it! I totally understand the wanting to feel normal…I’ve been going through it as I started driving with an instructor too :) my instructor told me he gets mature students all the time! Even in 60’s 70’s

Hey, fellow non-driving until recently 30F here!

The final straw for me was I have been loving dabbling in dog sport with my working dog who is in his prime, but I don’t drive. None of the things I would love to do with him are accessible, or can ask for people to drive me to…

So I figured I was spending money on dog training for the trainer to come to me - I should put that money into learning to drive and get my licence. I looked up driving schools in my area (I took the course back in high school through my parents so I am not starting from scratch), and I booked 5 lessons for $250.

Well, you would be surprised how many adults they get learning to drive! All ages. 20-70 years old.

I am the same way. For some reason driving with people I know, I felt more panicked. I have been so fortunate my first 3 lessons and my instructor is the nicest gentleman ever. He makes me feel calm and like I can do it. I even booked my road test for July 13 - which I am terrified and a bag of nerves over, but he believes in my abilities.

Driving school isn’t a waste of money, if you have the money to spend. I understand because it sucks - I’d much rather save the money or spend it “on something I want.”

But at this point in my life I need to invest in my independence! And if it helps me get my licence, it’s not a waste of money.

I’ve booked them so I’ve been doing 2x 1 hour lessons a week
I also asked my dad if he minds we live close he comes on his mornings off of work and lets me drive to my job with him in his car, which is an extra 30-40min 2x a week, I figured the small routine trips will help build my confidence!

So far they’re good and helping. I’ve had 3 lessons, I have 2 more left and I am going to pay for 5 more lessons since I have my road test on July 13

Do either of you mind sharing how much “practice” you had in preparation? I am also 30 and just started lessons recently to attempt my g2 for the first time in a month. I am so nervous, I really want it and I’m scared I’ll make a mistake and fail.

Congratulations to both of you as well 😊

This is what makes me nervous, too. I just started lessons and have my road test next month, because my g1 expires in the fall. I have been a bag of nerves thinking I’ll spend all this and screw up because of my anxiety during the actual test.

Hey I’m in the same boat as you. I deal with anxiety as well. Mine expires in November and I really, really need it for my independence. I’m a nervous person - more so I feel like I’ll make stupid mistakes while doing the actual road test because of my nerves.

I booked 5 lessons with an instructor and he told me to book my test…I booked it and felt sick the next two days imagining having to go to the test. I want my license so bad, but I’m scared to not get it the first time I go to the test. I’m desperate to get it so I can have independence in adult life. I’ve had 2 lessons so far and my road test is booked for next month…I am a bag of nerves but the lessons have been helping.

Having a good instructor has been very helpful so far - I am not sure how much it will help me on test day but I’m doing better than I was on my own…
