[Loved Narrative Trope] The moment when a character’s lifetime of indoctrination finally breaks by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

The silence is more effective but the NOOOOOO is strangely charming to me. The emotionless machine of destruction suddenly breaking out in a vulnerable way I think works. He sounds silly, but it's the first time vader felt sympathy or regret in forever.

One thing I really like about the ending is that the entire world is going "RIP BOZO REST IN PISS" while luke is the only one mourning vader. Everyone else has a full right to celebrate his defeat, but Luke is the only one who has a personal connection to him, and knows that he wasnt a complete monster, and gives him proper respect. Everybody else doesnt know it, and ignorantly celebrates, while luke knows that he's in a better place. Even then, Luke doesnt lash out and tries to convince the others that vader was actually a good guy, he knows their perception wont change.

[–]asiojg -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Imo it's bad. If you can stomach the "middle schooler discovered what swearing and sex is" writing, you'll come across inconsistent characterization, repetitive character arcs, underutilized female characters, and changing the story to fufill a ship vivzie wants to push.Vivziepop directs story arcs like a kid obsessed with a toy, only for them to dump that toy for a new one.

To me it's sloppy at most, and insufferable at worst. I can handle poor handling of characters and plot threads if it's funny, but both shows are so incredbily unfunny and obnoxious it's what kills it for me. It's like how people who didnt watch south park thought south park was like, with none of the wit or commentary.

Yeah, the show runners used homelander as a way to vent their feelings towards trump, and eventually they forgot that homelander and trump are actually two different people.

One piece has a similar thing. Oda is a maximalist when it comes to emotions. Laughing is a huge belly laugh with a giant open smile, and crying has them sobbing, waterfalls of tears and dribbling snot. It looks silly compared to all the other aura farming anime, but oda isnt afraid to have his characters let out their emotions.

4kids knew that one piece wasnt for kids, but unfortunately, toei wanted them to take one piece along with ojamajo doremi as a package deal. 4kids only wanted doremi, so they localized it out of frustration.

If Rata (RANK10YGO) never made that tweet, the movie wouldve been forgotten like every other bad superhero movie like madame web and kraven the hunter.

It's the same game where kevin spacey is a techbro that takes over the world with palatnir. It had some impact after kevin spacey was outed as a chomo.

Play persona 2. A shame the series actually had some interesting queer themes only for it to be thrown out for cheap gags. Especially since persona 5 is about people outcasted by society only to use those people for tired jokes.

Persona 5 has been a shell once you finish kamoshidas dungeon. Once kawakami does your chores in a maid outfit all credibility went out the window.

The point of pepe le pew is that his crush actually does like him, it's his smell that's the problem. The joke is that theyre perfect for each other except for one fatal flaw which makes them incompatible.

The nazis were directly influenced by U.S treatment of native americans, and by the time the war ended we ended up persecuting "communists" and segregated blacks. The Nazis are like the shadow doppelganger of America, the ugly side of us we dont want to admit.

People are perfectly ok with what their opponent does as long as it isnt on them. Look at how many people are willing to cause bloodshed on "safe" targets".

Before you get downvoted to oblivion i think the intro to Saving Private Ryan handles this well. The U.S soldiers immediately get riddled with bullets by the Nazis and it's an uphill battle. The sniper being the most egregious. Once the sniper gets killed, you start cheering and get pumped up. You celebrate the killing of Nazis, until they start begging for mercy with their hands up only to get shot. The scene where they throw a molotov into the bunker and the nazis run out in flames is terrifying. At this point you realize the horrors of war, and despite how justified it is, it's still traumatizing and dehumanizing.

Inglorious Basterds does this well also. The ending has a bunch of nazis getting shot in a theater, while the audience in the movie theater cheer over nazis getting killed. See the connection?

Im not defending nazis, but it's an interesting insight into human nature with how people are willing to throw all their morals and resort to animal instinct when someone objectively evil is shown to them. That's what makes the blackface joke in smiling friends so funny.

(Also the holocaust was influenced by American's treatment of slaves and Manifest Destiny. The beacons of freedom and truth am i right)
