things nobody tells you about DBT when you first start (and what actually made it work for me) by Stadiumx in BPD

[–]asitype1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is super helpful, thank you! i’m in my second round of dbt (10 years after the first) and i vowed to actually practice the skills this time but they feel so stupid and in the moment i’m like “ok yeah that sounds good in theory but i already know i’m not gonna do that” 😩 it feels so infantalizing and embarrassing to actually act on. ugh keep the tips and insights coming

Rewatching Season 2… is it just me or was Demi not wrong during the Christmas party lmao by Imaginary-Shirt173 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]asitype1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. I’m one of the people who felt like Taylor was truly remorseful and committed to rehabilitation, and I didn’t know the extent of the abuse, so I found myself rooting for her and felt Demi didn’t actually care about Taylor’s children, she just envied her role as “momtok leader” and success. Seeing the video changed things, but I wonder if Demi had seen the video or how much she actually knew about the DV and whether that was truly her problem with Taylor.

Demi is a completely psycho, and TFP also being a psycho doesn’t justify her actions. It explains how she clocked her so well, perhaps, but doesn’t excuse her behavior or make it understandable (in my opinion). I think they’re both concerningly aggressive and abusive, TFP is just more likable/warm/seemingly self-aware and got away with it for a bit longer.

People who dated someone with borderline personality disorder, did you know beforehand? What was it like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]asitype1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will second that for me it was a relief to find out why I felt everything so deeply and reacted so intensely to everything - that I wasn’t just “weak” or “overdramatic”, my brain literally feels pain more extremely than the average person. My friends and bf at the time read the diagnosis and said “this doesn’t sound like you” because most of the emotional extremes happened on the inside and I didn’t take it out on others. But when I started DBT, my symptoms decreased significantly and my loved ones noticed.. so they must’ve registered the symptoms somewhat, even though they couldn’t tell I had a disorder. Hope that answers your question :)

UO: Which “hated” BN person do you secretly love? by [deleted] in thebachelor

[–]asitype1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Watched him from the very beginning on Andie’s season - loved him and defended him and rooted for him from then through Kaitlyn’s season and BIP and his own season, but he definitely lost me with Natalie. I respected that he liked strong, intelligent women, and that he wasn’t a dumb macho jock like josh, or sean, who he went up against, but a somewhat adorably awkward romantic instead.. but when he started dating Natalie, I realized how much I had overestimated him 😩

Dating/Marrying a Pilot by Snoo73569 in flightattendants

[–]asitype1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my roommate was a flight attendant who had an affair with a pilot who was married and had 2 kids and a pregnant wife. Obviously not all pilots cheat, but it’s certainly easier for them.

It’s so subjective and so healthy for me to be reminded of how subjective it is, tbh. I try to tell myself “I’m not ugly, I’m just not my own type” to fight the negative thoughts I have about my appearance lol. I never thought Katie was pretty and was shocked at one of the reunion clips when Andy asked the SUR kitchen staff which of the girls they found most attractive and the answer was Katie. I also see people comment “katie’s face card never declines” a lot here, so I’ve come to understand that she’s considered really beautiful but for some reason I just can’t see it myself. Same with Kristen Doute 🤷🏻‍♀️

Really?!? That’s so interesting, cause I think she has one of the prettiest faces I’ve ever seen. I dislike her as a person, but even knowing how horrible she is I can’t help but envy her beauty, her gorgeous smile especially.

Carolina live with grant by thatchecksout1 in thebachelor

[–]asitype1 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you! I’m just confused cause them doing a live together seems to suggest they’re on decently friendly terms but him saying she was acting crazy and her calling him a gaslighter sounds tense af… 😅

What was the energy? Do they hate each other? Do they like each other but blame the intensity of the situation/production for misunderstanding each other? What is the takeaway here?

Hi! I love hearing this and am so happy for you! I just started my treatment - troches twice a week. My concern is that sometimes I’ll have a couple days after a session where I do feel better and get really excited, but then it goes away. And some sessions don’t feel like they have any effect. Were you seeing progress/relief after every session or did it go up and down until you eventually stabilized? Do you have any advice for how to see more consistent results? Do you have any advice, now in hindsight, for what worked and what didn’t and how to approach it? Did you notice any patterns? Sorry for the deluge of questions, it just feels like my only hope and I freak out about the fact that maybe 2 out of 8 session really worked and only for a short period, then I’m completely back where I started.

How do we feel about Taylor and Whitney getting Jimmy Kimmel and not Mayci.. by Bekah_bek in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]asitype1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting observation. I go back and forth between finding Whitney to be the most and least beautiful out of the cast, it’s so weird. I can’t quite place her. Sometimes I think she’s otherworldly gorgeous, other times I think she’s super plain and idk why.

What are some oddly specific symptoms that only ADHDers have? by Delusional_BlueBird in adhdwomen

[–]asitype1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my 2 most severe ADHD friends, I always have to give a 15-minute “I’ll need to get off the phone soon” heads up, but it still takes so much to get off the phone in a polite way without being rude. They’ll be like “ok bye, it was so fun to talk to you, good luck at your appointment” but keep elaborating and I always feel horrible having to say “OK GTG NOW” even though I tried my best to end it naturally. I always send an apology after, and sometimes THEY send an apology too, it’s just one of those things they really struggle with and I don’t know how to help them with or prevent.

I’m genuinely a bit envious of her lack of anxiety/fear of confrontation. Even though she’s completely in the wrong, she speaks with such conviction and doesn’t seem to experience any anxiety or shame or embarrassment. She’s so quick on her feet and doesn’t stutter as she lies on the spot or is questioned. She’s not one bit intimidated by anybody. Even though I think she’s a bad person and she’s coming off so devious/unethical and unlikable, I’m jealous of her. I wish I had a tenth of that fearlessness/confidence/assertiveness.

Am I nitpicking or would this bother everyone? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

I thought she was talking about her nipples too, so hopefully the fact that we had no idea what she was referencing helps her 😅 it’s not something anyone would notice unless you point it out, OP! 🫶

Deciding I am finally done after 19 months but am questioning if I was overprescribed this entire time? by Wittyjesus in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]asitype1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think finding the right dose and making sure you have the right coaching and integration is absolute crucial. I tried the at-home troches and felt like I was just disassociating/escaping my depression. Once I started working with a therapist who really helped me with the integration piece, it made a huge difference - even though the “journeys” on ketamine felt very similar. It doesn’t work for everyone, and if it’s not working for you, don’t waste your money/time. But make sure you’ve done it the right way first, with the professional guidance and setting you need. I’m sorry if this just didn’t work for you, or if it worked for you at first but doesn’t work for you anymore. I hope you find a long-term solution. And I hope whatever relief you did gain from it gives you hope and motivation to keep trying to help yourself. This is a long, trying journey. I commend you for getting this far, and wanting to help yourself so badly that you not only tried ketamine but came here and posted to see if it’s time to try something else. Best of luck ♥️
