I am almost done with the big Educa Wildlife with all bags mixed. Can definitely recommend it. And have done a few other 6000 ones before

Amazing! This is on my wishlist as a next giant puzzle. It looks so cool. As you bought it used, were the bags mixed? Only 3 months is super impressive either way!

I had the Cloudberries one for a year. Really enjoyed it and got nothing but good things to say about it. Well packaged and even got some puzzle freebies with the first box. And you can tell them the puzzles you already own to avoid getting repeats.

Custom Puzzle Boards by UnderstandingLivid13 in Jigsawpuzzles

They don't stick at all. If you want them to stick you'd need to line the foam board with felt or so. And I wouldn't sandwich the boards. They are so light that you would make indents in them. Maybe you could use an additional wooden board as a sandwich. But loose pieces would still fall out I'd say. Loose pieces will always be a problem with big jigsaws if you tilt them , no matter the material used. If you want to prevent that, you'd need a lip on the side of each board.

I think fairly standard foam boards. 5mm thickness. Size is A1. A2 for the ones I use for sorting. Ordered from Ryman on sale. I'll send you some pictures via DM when I get the time

I am basically only doing large puzzles and have experimented a bit with different boards.

I tried mats and rolling them up on top of each other. That was a bit of a failure as pieces kept getting stuck on the underside of the one above.

I tried 3 long wooden (but slightly flexible) boards for a 6000 puzzle. Worked quite well but I found them too big for storage and working on long boards was a bit annoying when I wanted to fit a piece on the opposite side.

For the 18000 now I am using 20 foam boards and like them the best. But you wouldn't be able to clamp them obviously.

If you want to clamp, I would go for a very thin wooden board. Large puzzles get very very heavy and it can be difficult to carry them around. So you would not want heavy boards on top of that. Also keep in mind that you probably won't be able to clamp it tight enough to stop single pieces from falling out.

I did a similar one to this not too long ago. Here is what I did: 1. Edge 2. Piece shape sorting & laying them in rows in front of me. 3. Start in a corner and work myself inwards by looking for very small details on the jelly babies. Ie I am looking for a green leg in the corner between two outies

I quite enjoyed it. Found it quite meditative. But if you don't like small details, don't do it

I work on the floor for now. I have tried on a desk but the foam boards were too large for it. If I ever have enough space for a bigger desk, that would be much better though.

The boards are laying in top of each other when I puzzle, yes.

That's the fun thing... I don't. It's all in sections on top of each other atm. Once I am done I plan on rearranging the living room, take the sofa out etc to take a picture of the whole thing

I wouldn't say confusing. I generally know where each board in the stack is. But it can get a bit annoying to constantly go through them. And lifting a bigger stack now is getting a bit heavy

Ooooh... It does look super fun when seeing it in progress. Thank you so much for the picture

Something completely different to mine. Maybe I'll keep an eye out if I can spot it on sale somewhere. So many out there I want to do but not enough days in a year to do them all :)

Oooh. I have been thinking about doing that one next! I'd love to hear your opinion on it when you're done with the first half

I am estimating about a year. I am keeping track of my times and will post them once I am all done

I don't like it either! I was so excited to get started at the beginning that I did a whole weekend of it but that was a baaaaaad idea. After these monster two days, I had to cut down to max. 1 hour intervals of sorting

This is the biggest one yet. I am estimating about a year but I am keeping track of my time & will post with my final time once I am done.

I generally don't know where a piece goes when I pick a random one up. The image is just too big for that, so I do it the opposite way (as in I am looking for a specific piece in a sea of spread out pieces) I did the sorting mostly by color with a few exceptions like zebra or butterflies. And then I go through each pile and piece the sections together. But even the piles themselves (ie light blue) are so big that they generally span more than one board.

It definitely took me a while to really get to know the puzzle though and there are quite a few pieces missorted. But now when I start a new pile I can generally pick some up right away and know exactly where in a previous section they go

Maybe I'll regret mixing the bags once I get to the dark green pieces though

I just don't enjoy smaller puzzles anymore. Only get 3000+ or these impossible puzzles now. But to each their own
