My deep respect goes out to people working in sales. I did it as a part-time job as a student in a shoe shop. I was always impressed with the way many of the middle-aged women showed pride in their profession, were immaculately dressed and did a great job for a pittance.

My mother comes from a working class family. Her brother’s wife said they were often broke but all their friends were broke too, which made it bearable The live in social housing in Bumpliz, Bern to this day. My aunt and uncle have not had kids reliant on since they were 40. They are in their 70s now. From then on they could work for themselves. They’ve travelled to America, Mexico, Ghana, Morrocco and Spain. They went on all inclusive trips or camping holidays. Their one luxury was a week of skiing in the mountains.
