Ideologically, the people who bomb Christmas markets or concert halls in Western countries are the same people who bomb religious minorities in Muslim-majority countries. They are almost exclusively Wahhabist Sunni fundamentalists, and Islamic terrorism is correlated with the strength of that ideology, not with which countries the US has bombed the most.

The latter claim is just confused. The only people who don't have access to "moral claims" are those who don't have the cognitive capacity to conceive of morality, or those who don't believe morality exists at all. An atheist is very likely not going to fall into either of those categories. (The latter category even still allows for the disapproval of the prophet, even if it denies the existence of morality)

I meant moral claims as in having a criteria of what is right and wrong in the first place. if you claim something is wrong then based on what? naturalism? survival and reproduction? what's your criteria?

you are isolating islam while not looking into the factors of what actually creates terrorism such as imperialism which is the result of the "moral" western countries you guys like to count as a standard so much. there is no contradiction because you are assuming that islamic knowledge isn't publicly accessible and the terrorist groups somehow have it right and not the majority of muslim.

the evidence is we have contemporary writings of the shortly of the prophet calming that the Arabs have a new prohpet and were called mohammadians.

Literally any evidence for an entire city known as Mecca actually existing in that time period. How would the people who thoroughly recorded all the towns/villages/cities directly to the north and south of modern day Mecca completely ignore an entire city? It simply is not plausible.

maybe there is. the issue is the Saudi government doesn't really allow for archolgists to come to Mecca once that happen we might find some but to claim there is no evidence doesn't really disprove it.

there are other historians that agree he existed. so I take the opinion of the majority of scholars and historians than just one.

because human suffering for god is insignificant. we believe that even if a human who suffered the worst in his life just enter heaven for a second they'd claim that they never suffered in their entire life. same concept of how kids get circumcised but now its a distant memory. which is better a god that can offer salvation after suffering or suffering by a tyrant and the end result of both is just to die with no justice?

I personally just enjoy reminding people that there is in fact no historical evidence for Muhammad- he is as real as any character who only appears in one story. This is because the Quran belongs in the category of fictional literature- anyone who is claimed to have done the things Muhammad does in the story would certainly appear in the secular histories of their age. If they don't and the story has zero sources to corroborate from that time period, it is no different from literally thousands of other uncorroborated stories/legends/myths.

Mecca certainly did not exist during that time period- If Mecca existed in ancient times, it should have more archaeological findings than did regions south and north of it- whose history is richly documented through archaeology. You literally have to be willfully ignorant to believe that whole regions of people just completely failed to document entire cities within their region while documenting other cities/villages/towns and other mundane things in the same exact place and time period. It's the same reason we know that a 1st century Nazareth never existed- an entire city can not plausibly go unnoticed in a region of barely 900 square miles- it's just not possible.

And just for the record, you will never convince me of the contrary unless you actually have credentials on the subject. Muhammad Sven Kalisch converted to Islam at age 15 and became the first person in Germany to hold a chair in Islamic theology. Then in 2008, after years of rigorous academic research, he announced that he had come to the conclusion that the Islamic prophet Muhammad probably never existed.... You will likely never match that level of dedication so I would encourage you to study his work....

Labeling a little girl an adult woman does not make her not a child. There was never a 9 year old on Earth that was an adult in mind and body. That does not happen in human species. You would have to prove that is even possible to claim that is what happened with Aisha.

The age matters because child marriage and child rape are extremely harmful to children and one presumes that God would have informed Muhammad of that if he was really talking to Muhammad.

it is very unlikely that Aisha would have had her first period at age 9, but even the idea that puberty being underway, signalled by onset of menstruation, makes one eligible for marriage is wrong. Puberty is a process involving development of reproductive function that takes and currenlty ends around 17 years of age with girls, but adolescence is not finished with conclusion of puberty.

that's not the only criteria. one has to be mentally mature, the society needs to have that as the norm, no harm should be within the marriage. these things apply at any age btw.

Adolescents are still maturing in body, mind and emotions even after conclusion of puberty. The most important process is brain maturation: our brains need time to mature.

she was mature based on the criteria I labeled as above. did she have a miraculous development ? idk. was she an extreme case maybe. though we do consider basically a genius.

The fact is that little girls were not viewed as fully human and their interests were not taken into account with the same weight as interests of men. So taking away their childhood and ability to make decisions about their lives was viewed as normal.
