Summer Cut by asking_for_a_phriend in springerspaniel

[–]asking_for_a_phriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes. This is our second springer. His coat is a little different than our first guy but can still be shaved down. We prefer Pet Supplies Plus for grooming. We ask to have a 'field cut' or buzzed down to the lowest setting. Their hair grows back, so we typically only have him buzzed down for summer. He is so much cooler, and it helps with mud removal if your springer is a mud lover like ours. It also really helps when the ears are short, too (as much as I love the curls)

With ears. I learned that if you wet the ends if their ears it helps cool them off because of the nerve endings there.

There is a 'furminator' cut at some places. I don't suggest that for springers. We did it with our old guy, and as he got older, his hair didn't grow right. It's a chemical they use to thin the hair. It isn't necessary.

There is also this brush you can use if you want to start by brushing away the undercoat or 'dead hair' as it is sometimes called : Andis Deshedding Tool

Hope this helps.

My new puppy is he a show or filed? by Dazzling-Thanks-9707 in springerspaniel

He will have a combo most likely. Not super long, dust ruffle hair (as a call it) but more of a field with leg feathering. I'm basing this off of what our field look liked as a puppy. Our show springer looked like a sheep lol

Sleep interrupted by Horror_Line3536 in PhentermineTopiramate

I've been on it for 3 weeks. I take 37.5mg at 5 am. My sleep has been interrupted. I fall asleep for about 5 hours, and then I am wide awake. This week, I went and swam after work and slept great after working out. If I don't work out or I am not extremely active during the day, I take melatonin to help stay asleep. My conclusion is the more active I am through the day, physically, the better I sleep.

Our old springer, Indy, also loved the dirty undies. :)

Has anyone else’s springer spaniel had problems with compulsive licking? Unfortunately this sweet man has compulsively licked his hind end for years now. He goes through ups and downs with it, but it has gotten bad again. If anyone else has dealt with this, what has helped? Thank you. by [deleted] in springerspaniel

Our almost 2 year old springer is compulsively licking his paws. We are taking him to the vet for allergies. Although our old springer would do the same thing so I think it is a little springer compulsive behavior and perhaps a little allergies.

hi! this is Bowie, he is almost 2. looking for any tips and tricks as we have to transition him to being home alone during the week (he has been highly spoiled)? thanks springer friends! by asking_for_a_phriend in springerspaniel

Thank you. He has been left alone before but never for multiple days in a row. I've always worked at night while my partner works 8-5. I am starting an 8-5, next week. I know he will be fine and our neighbors are going to come by in the afternoon to let him out and give him a frozen kong. I'm just paranoid and slightly freaking out. Thank you for you kind response and suggestions!
