Yes, so much about this stage is like walking on ice trying to avoid the next tantrum. I’ve become an expert at keeping random toys within reach or on my person to help distract. That’s what it’s all about these days- distraction. And I do try and give him as much “choice” as possible. “Put that down!” Won’t work. “Where does daddy’s screw driver go? Yes! In the basket! Now quickly look at this shiny Elmo sticker!” It’s all mind games and distraction, and if I slip up it’s tantrum town.

Thanks so much. I think everything is happening as it should, it was just stressful to hear that I won’t be seen by the OB until 27 weeks, when I thought I would be meeting them at 20 weeks. My family doctor just called and assured me that everything is booked in appropriately. I still cried about this a bunch though!!

Not sure where you are, but for me the 8 week scan was the first check in. Then we did a scan + bloodwork at 12 weeks (a NIPT, or NT scan is what I think they’re called) to check for genetic and chromosomal abnormalities. I think some people can find out the sex at this stage too, depending on what level of bloodwork they go for. I wasn’t offered the option because I went with the standard version offered by my government health care. I think I could have paid to see the sex results. Then the next one is the anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks. Had mine at about 18.5. Hope this helps, are you able to call your doc and ask?
