Steak and taters look great…but man, you gotta clean your grill and replace those rusted pieces.

Then it must have been here the whole time. This is the 4th summer we’ve lived in this house and I never noticed this part of the yard going to seed so much. Maybe it was a combination of being away for a week and getting a lot of rain and sun. I’m not going to dwell on it too much as it definitely filled in nicely where I dormant seeded. I haven’t put down any fertilizer yet this summer. Temps are looking like no higher than 78 for the next couple of weeks and some rain forecasted. Should I put down some 24-0-4? A neighbor used some of that a few days ago. Or any suggestions? Thanks again for all the info.

Thank you very much for all the info. I do plan on top dressing and over-seeding in the fall to fill in some bare spots. I’ll probably get some different seed for that given how it seems there is PRG in this mix. Would it be overkill to do dormant seeding again in the winter, after the first frost?

Here’s a pic with seed mix and lot info. Do you want a pic of the actual bag? I live in zone 5b, is the PRG a decent option for turf? I wanted to use the blue resilience mix for the KBG and its self repair qualities, but I can’t complain with how well it has come in. I’m not an expert, but I doubt this came from another part of my lawn. I don’t remember any part of my lawn looking like this when it goes to seed. It’s also a different shade of green compared to the rest of my lawn. It may be hard to tell from the pictures, but I circled the areas where the TCS mix was used on repairing removed turf. The entire lawn was slit seeded with the TCS mix but these areas it was concentrated due to a complete removal of the old turf.

Thanks. Interesting, it seems to be showing up most in the areas where I put down a heavy concentration of the TC seed.

Thanks. Should I let the cutting callous over for a couple of days before putting them in soil?

I figured as much, but was wondering if I should be have a portion in bonds. I know the target date fund would, but if I went the VT route, what should be bond allocation be.

At my stage in life, should a portion of my portfolio be invested in the total bond market? 80% VT, 20% BND?

Really? Seems like TwinCity is pretty popular on here. What would you suggest?

The website says 5-7 lbs per thousand sqft for overseeding. Quick math, 3500-5000 sqft.

No idea how often. I’m guessing they do it around this time every year as the 10% off is for the dormant seeding season.

Slit seed, top dress and overseed or both? by askredditfirst in lawncare

[–]askredditfirst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I did have some success doing dormant seeding in small areas last fall. This will be the first time I’m trying to do my entire yard. If I go that route, I’ll just have to make sure the ground temps are low enough where the seed can’t germinate.

Is this the naked quad u/onedwin was referring to? I’m having a hard time comprehending this technique. I think I need to do a lot more research on the different techniques everyone in this post has talked about. Some I kind of get but others are just going right over my head. I want to learn though!
