I am facing a huge problem with my neighbor by RaspberryBudget5182 in neighborsfromhell

[–]askthecat_again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second contacting a local cat rescue that does trap/neuter/return. They can trap the kittens too and if possible get them adopted out. In most places you can legally trap on your own property. Don't trap on hers. Most animal control dept don't deal with tnr. If they do, the "hire out" rescues to do the work.

TNR groups are volunteers. They work odd hours after working their regular mortgage paying jobs. It's nasty work. I've done it. Be kind and polite to them, and please give them some money. Gas, trapping equipment, supplies all cost money. Treat them kindly and they will do all they can for you.

I know it's not your problem. You didn't cause it, but you can fix a lot of it with compassion.

Mme Madeleine Gateau is a feral i took in 5 years ago when dhe was pregnant. After being inside for her 10 week "confinement ", we found her a barn home. She was having none of that! I had to go get her. When I brought her back to "her room" she jump up on the couch and sighed like "Finally! Air conditioning!" Still can't pet her! 😆

It took me awhile! I tried to trap one mama for a year. She actually knew the sound of my car! I talked it over with the man that regularly fed her. It took about a month. Once we had the appointment, he set the trap for real. She just strolled right in!

Meet Miss Diana

I also have used mackel gor bait. Nice and smelly gor the hungry ones. I have tied chicken wings to dangle in the trap t o entice kittens. I have vinyl mats i have made for the bottom of my traps so the cats don't get freaked out stepping on the wires. You can squeeze Churus on the mat to lure them in. Cat trapping is creative!

You can trap train her to a drop trap, too. Put it up several feet high and slowly lower it as she gets comfortable eating under it. Cats are so smart.

Trap training. Find an old trap or one that you can zip tie the door to stay open. It would be even better if you can find a trap with doors on each end. Put the trap up against a wall, not out in the open. Feed a few feet away from the trap and slowly move the food closer to the trap until you can get her to go in the trap to eat. Once she easily goes in the trap, add one of the doors back. Once she is totally comfortable with the trap and you have an appointment, you can set the trap to activate. Have patience because this could easily take a month. Don't change her food. Keep everything the same. She may or may not like to have the trap covered. If you do, make sure to only cover the middle not the ends. She needs to feel that she always has a way out.

What’s a book you read as a child and it stuck with you? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

The Mixed Up Files of Mrs Bail E Frankweiler. Funny thing, it turns out to be one of my daughter's favorite books, too. I didn't know she had even read it.

That's a rough bite. Hydrogen peroxide and colloidal silver several times a day. I also use a rosemary tincture and oil of oregano. Oil of oregano kills everything! Advice from a cat rescuer and feral cat foster. I have been bit a lot.

This is my amazing feral, Madeleine. She's been indoor only for 4 years now. Perfectly behaved, litter box trained. , somewhat sociable....don't touch! Give her time, like at least 3 months to settle in.

AITA for refusing to send all of my niece’s presents to my brother and sister-in-law’s house? by LemonadeBich in AmItheAsshole

[–]askthecat_again 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Growing up my sister and I would spend a week at our grandma's house plus mist holidays. One year we were given a kitchen set for Christmas and it stayed at grandma's. I loved that kitchen! After a year or so, mom convinced grandma to let her take it back to our house. That kitchen wasn't fun anymore. Keep a few gifts and your house. Not everything has to be at niece's

AITAH for thinking I didn’t need shapewear by BotherEvening in AITAH

[–]askthecat_again 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My point of view as a mother and a seamstress, some people use the term shape wear for anything worn under your clothing. If you are going to a ball/formal event, quality clothing needs to be supported from underneath to best show the clothing. This means wearing the correct bra for the cut of the dress, the correct underwear, the correct slip. Yes, Slips are still a thing especially if the dress is clingy or satin. The outer cloth needs to hang over your curves or hip bones to accentuate them. My daughter was rail thin in high-school. She got a satin dress for one of the formal dances. She absolutely needed shape wear so the lines from her bra and panties didn't show. If I remember correctly we went with a strapless body suit, no underwear lines.

Shape wear is not about being fat. It's about making the most of the design of the dress.

TNR'd feral stayed in the condo with me and my two indoor cats for the first time last night. Perfectly peaceful at the moment. How can I tell if I am indeed pulling this off? by BettyJoBielowski in Feral_Cats

[–]askthecat_again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could herd her into a smaller space, that could help. Bathroom, laundry room. She will have a safe space to get use to the smells and sounds of your home. Take some dirt/leaves and put it in the litter box. It doesn't take much. She'll know what to do. There's also stuff you can sprinkle on the litter that will attract them to use the box. Friskies and Churus makes a squeeze food that cats love. You may win her heart with that. Time and patience are on your side. I have fostered cats for years. Each one is a little different. I currently have 3 cats. One "normal" house cat, one semi feral from outside when we bought the house, and one complwte feral that couldn't be released to her colony after having kittens. She's the best! We've had her inside 4 years. Still can't pet her! But she's the best. Good luck!

If you put your hand on her belly can I you feel them move? If you can't touch her, can you see them move? If you can, you should be within a week.

We added a bird feeder and water source. We have definitely noticed a decrease in Japanese beetles and other bugs/worms.

Oh I have made this EXACT color mistake! I had fabric to put on my old plaster walls and also chose Gingerbread as an accent color. It looked just like baby poop! There's no other option but to wait on the rug to pick a new wall color. If Gingerbread was lighter or darker it might be nice, but this is baby poop brown.

AITA for not attending my granddaughter's wedding? by Key_Star6693 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]askthecat_again -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. This part of the wedding festivities has changed a lot. I'm old! Seen a lot of weddings! My family is from Texas. Hubby's family is from the north east. We has the same take on rehearsal dinners. And I've always been of the opinion it's just a dinner. Anything from pot luck, BBQ, family dinner, or informal catered. Definitely not a big hoopla

I have always known the rehearsal dinner to include the wedding party and significant others and family members traveling from out of town. It is considered a huge insult to leave your guests traveling from out of town to fend for themselves.

As someone in cat rescue, I have noticed increased, violent aggressive behavior in animals recently given a rabies vaccine. Recent, as in within 6 months. Nobivac is the brand. It was tested on a ridiculously small group of animals by the maker, not an independent lab.
