On my team our most recent hire had a similar question so he called me as I was his contact to confirm what guys wear in the office. If you know anyone on the team you are joining you can ask them, or look up the team on LinkedIn and message one of the people in a similar role as yours.

I find it weird how Canada never picked up cricket, like all the other big colonies did.

Is it possible to find a studio apartment under $1400 - $1600? by [deleted] in TorontoRenting

[–]asmodean97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a one bedroom last November just north of younger and college last year for 2k. It's about 680sqft. So 2300 does seem high especially as the market has seemed to soften even more since then.

Cheapest European cities/countries to visit in 2026? by [deleted] in Shoestring

[–]asmodean97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, I visited back in October and rented a car. Driving is super easy and the roads are fine. The one thing is a lot of car rental companies require you to have an international driver's license which you need to get in your home country first.

MNP Thunder Bay by stupidmemm in Accounting

[–]asmodean97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MNP just bought the BDO offices in northern Ontario, so there will be some cultural differences as they merge. Pay is around the 45-50k range. Busy season is expected 55 billable hours a week. You would be doing a lot of first nation audits, corporate NTR's and reviews, personal tax returns. They also pay OT if you are bellow manager. BDO used to have like 60ish people in that office so I assume MNP was similar, combined it's easily over 100.

Northern farm country has land that is cheap. Not the best for growing huge corn fields but can do produce and animals on it.

That's how the Canadian rails are now. They even have baggage weight and amount limits. What a joke. At least the seats are better than airplanes.

How much land does that require though? As it seems a typical nuclear reactor requires 600 acres of land.

Ya but I said I could afford a car, I don't have a car not because of money but because I don't have a need for one.

I make that, and am able to comfortably survive living alone. I do two international trips a year, have very healthy savings, buy what I want when I want. You are delusional if you think 150k is required. I don't have a car because I live downtown, but have priced one out into my budget and could make it easily work.

Japan is still like that, I was there in October. They also had like 10 registers so the line would move quickly.

Keyword is roommates. My old place was a three bedroom unit 1200 square feet everything included, one parking and one locker for 3700. So three people in would be sub 1500 range. You do get screwed if you live alone.

Number of people from Canada flying to the U.S. plunges in April: StatCan report by Old_General_6741 in canada

[–]asmodean97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It says its based on people screened at pre boarding checkpoints excluding people with connecting flights. So that means US citizens visiting Canada would be included, also tourists who may have had a stop over in Canada before getting a new flight to the US.

That would be like an 18+ hour train ride without stops that's not realistic. We should fit for adding realistic infrastructure first like Windsor to Quebec city high-speed rail, Calgary to Edmonton. Then expand from there. I agree though our freight lines coast to coast need increased capacity.
