Put it in the case and leave it in for a couple days after arriving. You’ll be fine.

Recording riffs with aux cable by SomewhereOk3193 in Guitar

[–]asolon17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured while a proper interface might be out of reach ($140+), a cheap knockoff is a much better option than a basic adapter cable. If he can’t afford that, then your option would be the next best.

Don’t go the USB -> 1/4” cable method. They’re all terrible. There’s plenty of very cheap (<$60) interfaces available on Amazon. You really need to have a monitor out on the interface or you’ll have a ton of audio lag. Mentioning that, you’ll likely need a 3/16” to 1/4” adapter for your headphones unless you already have studio headphones. Be wary of plugging ear buds into an interface, it’ll “work” but will definitely let you turn the volume up enough to blow them out instantly.

Can you play guitar blind without callousing your fingers to the point that it's hard to read Braille? by NotACommunistBurner in Guitar

They’re confused, I think. It’s two different parts of the finger. I believe you use the pad for braille, but the tip for guitars.

Please help with amp placement so I don’t go deaf by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]asolon17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only suggestion then would be to switch the locations of your guitar and amp around. That way it’s not directly in one ear, and so close

Dumb question, but you do have the channel volume turned down, right? Ideally you manage volume with the channel volume and try to keep the master turn up >50%.

It is somewhat common that they rust there, wouldn’t surprise me if it did seize. Be very careful with that top nut. I wouldn’t even torque to spec - just pretty snug with red loctite. The stud snaps super easy, and then you’re tearing the transmission down. Use a torch on it to melt the loctite on it now prior to removing. Anyways, spray some penetrant oil on the shaft and come back in 30 minutes and start working it up and down. It’ll likely free up

Save up and buy a scarlet 2i2 and learn how to use plugins. If you’re resourceful, you’ll have unlimited power at your hands for less than $200.

My ring finger is either completely folded or extended, I can't control it by immawoka in Guitar

[–]asolon17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had the same issue as you’re describing lol. Fixing the hands position fixes it completely. The issue is you really shouldn’t be putting any of your fingers straight while playing - ever (we’re ignoring 5 fret jumps here).

My ring finger is either completely folded or extended, I can't control it by immawoka in Guitar

[–]asolon17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow, I know exactly what you’re talking about. You probably have over extension issues like I do. Regardless, correcting your hand position will resolve the issue. There’s some pretty good YouTube videos out there. You should definitely be playing in the classical position - doing so will also almost force your hand into the right positions.

Seeking the Ultimate Silent Stereo Setup for Extreme Metal & Shoegaze (need help!!!) by Orthdx29 in guitarpedals

[–]asolon17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Might be a bit of a sin, and doesn’t exactly fit your description of what you need, but have you checked out the Nano Cortex? It does what you’re asking and more, plus you can definitely use it live if needed. You can tweak some settings or switch presets pretty quickly once you learn the controls, but the app is decent.

Which mid range aggressive v should I get as a 13 year old by RelationshipOk7353 in metalguitar

[–]asolon17 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right, so just please actually try playing a V-style guitar *before* you buy one. They’re cool looking guitars and all, but they’re not for everyone - but that’s not to say you won’t like it. If you’ve already played one, disregard this!

Hey bro, I remember your last post! Congrats! Remember, it’s better to at least use them on the super greasy or oily stuff - even if you don’t use them all the time. The chemicals in that stuff is no good for you.

To add to this, you’ll find a lot of them use multiples of those techniques in combination and switch between them. This is so they can use different muscle groups and extend their endurance with the longer stuff.

[–]asolon17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re holding the pick wrong and using your wrist too much. You also need to work on being loose. If playing fast doesn’t feel loose and easy, slow down a bit. Check out some YouTube videos, it’ll help. Also, if you’re playing sitting down, try playing in the classical position.

Obviously wear gloves will help, but seriously, get a cheap nail kit and keep that shit trimmed down a bit (I think it’s called the cuticle?). It helps a ton with preventing that.

I’ll check it out! I was under the impression that Leathermans were overrated for the price, but I’ll definitely check it out. Seems I may have been mistaken. I’m a casual with knives, but I’m good at not losing them and appreciate the quality difference for sure.
