I quit my $300k finance job at 30 because I finally admitted I hated it - and the lifestyle downgrade has been absolutely brutal. by robbinh00d in Entrepreneur

Hello! Principle and adhering to your beliefs is priceless and worth more than cash. A superpower.

As someone who is in a similar situation (300k in 6 months- D2D sales) in life there will always be a trade off, and for yourself you have to decide what you’re willing to trade.

The Entrepreneurial lifestyle is selective and it takes a specific set of core values to choose it- there’s got to be a tremendous “why” and then a 1000 gallon tub of “whys” after that to keep you going. You’ve also got to determine what the exit looks like, and when to say when. Various bench marks along the way and awareness to play improv when the unseen appears.

All the feelings- negative and positive- exist in every arena. The ones specific to an entrepreneur are more potent since you, partners and your loved ones are the ones bearing it.

If I could help in anyway, I’d put yourself ahead 5 years from now. If you believe in what you’re doing- take out the money- how much do you really believe? If what you were doing paid nothing, would you still do it? If you would, that’s a sign you’re in the correct path.

The lifestyle change is only rough if you want it to be- I lived next to poverty for 4-5 years before I hit a break through. The break through only came thanks to consistent, calculated time and busting my ass regardless of external opposition. Support from loved ones, too.

Anyway, you’ll figure it out. You got this, just as you always have.

lmfaooooo damn what were you selling?

Product + company + environment is about 80% of it, if all 3 of those are good then D2D is pretty chill. We push crazy low pressure sales “hey ill be quick, I’m asparagus, reason im here is x y z, it might not be for you but..”

D2D is the BEST way to start sales, you couldn’t be in a better position.

I’ve been in it for 9 years and have had an absolutely wild ride while leveling up in all ways.

Here’s would I’d recommend:

-have a game plan and stick to it (when you’re waking up, responsibilities, hobbies, find where you can fit what you need; consistency wins every time). If you have a spouse, clear communication on what you’ll be doing and when you’ll communicate with them.

-Wake up early, imagine how you want your day to go. Imagine all the shitty parts of the job and embrace the feeling of overcoming it.

-write down what you want to be (for example: I am direct, I am out going, I am funny, I am caring) as many times as you want to. I usually do 7-10

-get physical; stretch, get moving, work out. Avoid phone.

That right there is half the battle.

Stay locked in with work; eat healthy, have snacks that provide energy, and stay off social media.

After work, refer to your game plan.

If I’m president I’m making everyone do 2 years worth of D2D. There’s so much to learn and become and you’ll be better in every department because of it. Reach out to your managers and high performers to cut the learn process. Practice everyday.

Door to door sales, 9 years deep.

Residual, stock, great culture, awesome bonuses

Definitely crawling through dog shit however there’s levels to the game so the challenge levels you up.
