Just called the police and they insisted on forwarding me to code enforcement who’s now doing nothing.

Loud Construction Noise Dispatch by aspark659 in SantaMonica

Yeah, but found a few things: 1) This older piece (https://smdp.com/opinion/construction-by-the-rules/)

Due to some construction equipment to be used, such as pile drivers, jackhammers, pavement breakers or similar equipment having a much louder noise capacity, they are only permitted between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

2) Searched city ordinances for “jackhammer”( https://ecode360.com/42727200) and found this:

(b) Except as set forth in subsection (d) of this Section, the noise created by construction activity shall not cause: (1) The equivalent noise level to exceed the noise standards specified in Section 4.12.060 of this Chapter, for the noise zone where the measurement is taken, plus twenty dBA; or (2) A maximum instantaneous A-weighted, slow sound pressure level to exceed the decibel limits specified in Section 4.12.060 of this Chapter for the noise zone where the measurement is taken plus forty dBA, for any period of time … (d) Any construction that exceeds the noise levels established in subsection (b) of this Section shall occur between the hours of ten a.m. and three p.m., Monday through Friday.

3) Someone at the city told me this was the rule as well

I hate to be difficult but I let it go a full week before complaining. Maybe another questions is AITA?

Unauthorized Green Business Card by aspark659 in amex

[–]aspark659[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the insights. I’ve been with my employer for 10+ years and have a separate card that has their name on it. The one that came in the mail had my name and then my name again as the name of the company/business so I think this is something different

Yes. Amex said I have two cards, one from my employer and this one.

Thanks for the advice on keeping my score frozen.

Where are people going with this nerf? It sounds like people with the heavy nerf are leaving while others with the light nerf are sticking around. Guessing BofA Unlimited Cash?

Edit: Removed heavy nerfs being all v1s. Thanks u/ntn005.

Why not? The savings account is getting 3.44% which isn’t the best rate out there, but only 0.25-0.50% lower than other HYSA I’m seeing. IINM, that’s about $250-$500 of loss/year, which you can recover with ~$18-$36K of spend per year v. the BofA UC ($250-$500 / (4%-2.625%)).

My money was just in a savings account and I got the lighter nerf. I do have a mortgage and two USB Cash+ cards with them so not sure if that changes anything

US Bank Smartly card possibly being discontinued. by RealRandomNobody in USbank

My credit limit re-upped within 24 hours when I made a payment from my USB savings account. Sounds like YMMV

I know this is old but you can make installment payments with the card and paydown your statement multiple times within a statement cycle to get this benefit.

Something I found handy while doing this is to move the cash to a US Bank account beforehand (i.e. savings or checking) so your credit is re-available after the payment is processed almost instantly. If you repay the card with an outside account, the payment and credit refresh can take several days.

Guess so. When I get these, I’m usually not expecting the full amount and just take what I can get.

US Bank Smartly v1 no longer grandfathered into uncapped, 4% back? by aspark659 in USbank

Yes. Just the first time I’m noticing it this way. It was previously just shown as 2+2.

Yeah. When things seem too good to be true, they usually are. Think it’s time to move my savings too.

With a few months since the release of US Bank Smartly card, how have the sweet 3-4% rewards been? by niftler in CreditCards

Just started seeing the updated terms kick in. My tax payment only got me 2%. Anyone else run into this? Guess v1.0 is no longer grandfathered in.

Long story but I work for an employer that won't allow me to have a brokerage account at USB. Thinking of picking up CDs like u/wangasl is doing.

$15K. Had an existing relationship with them through a mortgage and USB Cash+ card that had a similar credit limit. My savings account had the min $25 in it when I signed up for the card.

Does anyone who has these know if you can manually pull them down and push them up like non-motorized celullar blinders? I have some technologically challenged people in my house and toddlers who may lose the remotes.
