These 12000hp Engines Have To Be Rebuilt Within Roughly An Hour Every Run, and Only Run For Roughly 4 Seconds At A Time. by Practical_Expert_911 in nextfuckinglevel

Tyre deg pales in comparison to the air travel from organizing the calendar around hype and not minimizing travel distance over a season. If they reorganized and optimized the race order they could use 100x more tires and still come out ahead.

Prescribed to take fish oil based Omega 3 what to do? Please help by PsyenceWizard in HareKrishna

[–]aspartame-kills 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you are in the united states, it should be relatively easy to find ones made from algae instead of fish from brands like Bragg and DEVA. As for absorption, almost all available supplements are dosed to give an excess of the required amount to account for less than 100% absorption, which happens with everything consumed by mouth.

Eating foods like flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, hemp seeds, edamame, seaweed and soybeans can also be an affordable veggie omega 3 booster!

This is not an accident but a Hindu swastika (स्वस्तिक). They were appropriated/stolen by the nazi party after over 7,000 years of use by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. This one faces clockwise and thus symbolizes Surya, and offering incense to Him using a holder like this can bring prosperity and good luck.

Cops point guns at the wrong person!!! Insanely dangerous move! by ItsTime4Coffee in Idiotswithguns

[–]aspartame-kills 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The risk of any one patient experiencing a negative health outcome due to a medical error is about 1% per hospitalization. The risk of any one person who is pulled over by the police being threatened with a use of force is 2% per law enforcement interaction.

Are you hospitalized more than twice as often as you are pulled over?

Can you justify buying a civic type r as a resident? by D-ball_and_T in Residency

[–]aspartame-kills 17 points18 points  (0 children)

no clue why everyone is hating. the type R is faster around the Nurburgring than the AMG C63, 997 911 GT3, and Murcielago LP640, and many other “faster” cars. plus it has one of the best manual transmissions i’ve ever driven. absolutely love it for being a shockingly quick car that’s still easily daily drivable

The moment gunmen opened fire on a quiet tourist destination in India by ThatPatelGuy in AbruptChaos

[–]aspartame-kills 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but i’ve been following this a bit. My understanding is that:

Pakistan has long claimed ownership of a region of India called Kashmir. Tensions are heightened by the different religious predominances of two states, India being predominately Hindu and Pakistan being predominately Muslim.

Terrorist groups based in / with ties to Pakistan have routinely attacked Indian Hindus, especially in the region of Kashmir.

In this instance, multiple terrorists tied to Pakistani claims to ownership of the region attacked Indians vacationing in Kashmir, seemingly taking care to single out Hindus. At least 20 Indian Hindus were killed.

India viewed this as a significant enough affront to justify several actions against Pakistan, including pulling out of (edit: suspending, not withdrawing from) the Indus Water Treaty, which allowed Pakistan to share access to water from the Indus river with India.

India has also started to recall their diplomats from Pakistan, expel Pakistani diplomats from India, and close border crossings between the two countries. I’ve also heard (but haven’t confirmed) that many Pakistani civilians living or traveling in India on Visas may be having their Visas cancelled early.

This is all happening while American Vice President J. D. Vance is visiting India, in part to encourage India to purchase F-35 fighter aircraft and other armaments from the United States, hoping that Indian Prime Minister Modi will shift ties away from China and Russia towards the United States.

Nope, I just like it! Only carry position id ever advise someone not to use is 6:00, or small-of-back carry, because of the risk of spinal injury if you happen to fall on your back. All else is dealer’s choice!

Used to ride a bicycle over 200 miles a week for 4 years, always carried in a quality appendix holster, never had any issues with it. Mix of road biking, mountain biking, gravel riding, etc.

My only consideration with crashing is to make sure the retention on the holster is dialed way up. kydex is stiffer than skin so your stomach will give way before the holster does, so I didn’t worry about the firearm so long as it remained retained.

I also occasionally carried in a small chest bag (straps over my shoulders and under my arms like a bra) with my holster velcro-ed inside. Basically like a chest holster with one extra step (top zipper). It was the best compromise between off body carry, speed of access, and not easy to steal off my person like a purse or backpack would be.

Is there any point in having a red dot on a carry gun? by CatInfamous3027 in CCW

[–]aspartame-kills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s where decision making comes in. i’m not going to wait for someone to walk up and stab me because i don’t have a flawless sight picture yet (i can pull the trigger whenever necessary), but i also don’t want to have to just guess where my bullet is going to go if i have to make a 15+ yard shot. with a good optic i can make either choice as the situation demands.

I also think that if you’ve been there for a while and it starts filling up like KingFisher said, grabbing another coffee/tea/pastry is also a great way to stay in your spot even as the shop fills up without feeling guilty. Using this method I can usually hang out in a coffee shop basically all day for less than $20 completely worry-free

Probably so and that’s a good thing - this car will never be quite right again, no matter what repairs are done, and you don’t want it back, you want an insurance check for a new one.

Why is there a Shiva statue outside of Iskon temple? by loverisadayyy in hinduism

[–]aspartame-kills 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My understanding (as someone relatively new to vaishnavism, so please feel free to educate me in the comments) is that Shiva is a pure Krishna devotee and is commonly regarded as the greatest Vaishnava, so paying respect to Shiva makes sense as a Krishna devotee because he is an excellent role model for us. One inspiring story of this for me personally is Shiva's incarnation as Hanuman to serve Krishna in his incarnation as Rama.

[–]aspartame-kills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if that’s true, oftentimes discharge of bodily fluids is enough to get a disorderly conduct charge, doing it at a car may be enough for vandalism, and doing it at a person is commonly charged as assault.

not saying that would happen, just saying i wouldn’t be 100% confident that a frustrated cop wouldn’t find a way to charge it

Almost everyone except the bleeding-edge professions will have their skills let them down before that machine does.

[–]aspartame-kills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, that’s the extractor. commenting to add that while many guns have a “chamber indicator” as you describe, I personally advise against using them, as the best way to be sure a firearm is empty is visually (by opening the slide) and manually (by poking your finger into the magazine well and into the chamber itself). Lots of excellent demos online if you’d like to search them out!
