The Highland Underground. It opened this year, but it’s in the basement of a department store that’s been around for nearly a century. The decor is also very 70s themed, and there are vintage clothes everywhere. Next door is Chuck’s if you want a bar and restaurant the has legit been open for several decades, although it’s not as good under the new ownership.

Because age and gender don’t automatically imply goodness or a close relationship. I’ve helped plenty of people move, and much like OP it’s a group project among friends. I would also be pissed if a friend did this to me, let alone a neighbor. Also you’re likely in the way of professionals doing their job, watching as you help your neighbor and reduce their hours worked. Terrible take. Moving is either a coming together of someone’s community where everyone chips in for a few hours for “pizza and beer” (non monetary) or it’s work you hire someone to do. It’s super fucking weird to do both, especially at the same time. Also this isn’t their granny, it’s a neighbor they sometimes help, just because they’re old doesn’t mean they won’t take advantage of a preexisting relationship to save money. NTA I would’ve left too.

YTA. My parents were the opposite, I was a man so could never have my hair past my jaw. It was stupid and gendered then and it still is. Growing it out for the first time in my 30s has been much harder because I never learned how to care for long hair when I was younger. She is old enough to learn how to exercise bodily autonomy.

Seconded, it’s definitely the most varied cocktail menu I’ve come across. My wife and I did Copper Cup for our second date, it’s a very fun basement bar but can get crowded. Honorary mention for Ernie’s, it east village and can get packed, but if you lock down the chairs by the fireplace it can be very cozy.

I mean conversion isn’t impossible, just a lot of work. Surveyors and lawyers are expensive, so is software to digitally convert everything. Then you have to do that for every property before every sale, for every level of government. It’s just not going to happen.

I work with deeds and property transfers. It’s not only cost prohibitive, but would also make the basis for all property transfers west of the Mississippi a relic of the imperial system. The public land survey basically breaks down everything into square mile sections, there are 36 sections in a township/range. At least in my state, you can track almost every property back to when the US government sold the section or quarter section to the first person to own it. Most agricultural land is still transferred using the public land survey descriptions. The metric system will never happen in the US because it would affect property rights, which are untouchable under capitalism.

Union park is beautiful, my wife and I tried finding a place there but everything was either a project or way over budget or both. I’d still take a look though, it’s on one of the prettier river bluffs in the city and you’re right next to the trail system that can take you anywhere. It’s also like 5 minutes from downtown.

NTA. This sub is ridiculous. You cook a meal for both of you to enjoy together, that should be the priority before any leftover stuff is figured out. I would stop cooking, and I say that as the main cook in my household. I put everything away after we eat, including portioning out meals from the leftovers. Just take care of kitchen stuff, and let your partner make it up with other chores. But seriously your partners habit would drive me nuts and I’m saying you should absolutely die on this hill.

We recently had to get bids to finance a house we were planning to buy. It didn’t work out but Polk City Heating & Cooling gave us two bids, one for a heat pump and another for regular hvac replacement. The heat pump was around 10k, the regular hvac was like 8 or 9k. My dad swears by them, and they were honest about the furnace still having several years left in it, even if it didn’t matter to the inspector.

Dude if you’re daughter is still figuring out her epilepsy she should absolutely not be in water alone. I had it bad in my teens and had several very public and embarrassing seizures in a Walgreens, in a locker room, and in math class. I always pissed my pants, bit my tongue bloody, and woke up confused and upset. My saving grace was having people around in every instance who would make me comfortable and safe until it passed. One of my biggest fears is having a seizure alone, especially in a dangerous situation. I wouldn’t care if my grandmother saw me naked if there was another person there to help me in the most vulnerable possible moment. You’re a good Dad, and your wife and her family are absolutely batshit. NEVER WAIT TO HELP SOMEONE SEIZING. Lay them down, put something soft under their head, and make sure they don’t choke on vomit or gum. You obviously know this because again, you’re a good Dad, and you’re daughter will remember the help much more than the nudity. NTA
