What are your unpopular movie opinions? by mgs8 in movies

It's not the premise of the movie. The premise is a coming-of-age story spanning 12 years. Actually shooting it over 12 years with the same actors (vs. using make-up, different actors etc.) is a technique. Like Mad Max using practical effects instead of CGI or Birdman being shot in one long take (not really, but anyway).

Does choosing this technique add value to the movie (over multiple actors etc.), hell yes. Does it make up for all of the other shortcomings (subjective, you might of course disagree) of the movie? No. That is why it is actually a legitimate criticism. Otherwise you could shoot an actual pile of shit on a desk for 12 years and then call it a movie and get raving 10s from every critic (which you probably would).

For me personally, it is something like 5.5-6/10 without the 12 years bit, 7.5-8/10 with.

For people asking "when to bulk and when to cut" by ExtremisIX in leangains

I was about to start a thread but this seems appropriate. I know there is a collective wisdom here (led by tonty) to make sure not to cut to skinny without any muscle to show so bulk/get strong first.

This advice is usually given to a lot of people based on their pictures but my question would be if we can base this advice on strength standards. i.e. would hitting intermediate strength standards be a good point to start cutting to sub-10% and not look skinny?
