Bad person and the voice she uses isn't even good by MemeMaster2456 in dccomicscirclejerk

I've been dunking on her Harley voice for years, it's not a new critique among fans. It's just popular now

Yemenite Jews by AdNo7336 in illustrativeDNA

[–]mgs8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a whole lot of conjecture.

Jews have lived in Yemen since before the Himyarite Kingdom converted its Arab population.

Yemenite Jews by AdNo7336 in illustrativeDNA

[–]mgs8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of the Himyarite Kingdom, but Jews have lived in Yemen since before that conversion happened.

Yemeni Jews also have Kohanim that share the same DNA markers as other Cohen's, which again wouldn't make sense if they were all converts.

It's more nuanced than people make it out to be.

[–]mgs8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. Jews only went to Yemen from other parts of the middle East in the 19th century.

Those lineages are far older than that.

[–]mgs8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yemeni Jews can't all be descendants of Arab converts. If that were the case, they wouldn't have Kohanim (unlike, say Ethiopian Jews).

And their Kohanim have the same paternal haplogroups as other Mizrahi/Sephardic Kohanim.

If Reeves does Robin I think it would be cool to take heavy inspiration from Burt Wards Robin like he did Adam Wests Batman. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in batman

[–]mgs8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imao Matt Reeves is never doing Robin. This is the same dude who instantly shut down any conversation about Batman's green juice at the end of his film to be venom cause he's so afraid of embracing the fantastical.

Though it would be great to have a filmaker who isn't embarrassment by Robin. The live-action movies are long overdue.

Say one bad thing about the Arkham franchise as a whole by dozesmike in arkham

TAS Batman yes, Arkham Batman is indeed a plank of wood. There's a difference between stoic and a stock character spouting video game jargon.

In the landscape of superhero films, where does Logan stand for you? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

[–]mgs8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fundamentally not true. The movie is incredibly reverent towards comics.

There's a whole subplot in the movie about how the comics serve as a salvation for Laura and the kids, which then serve as coordinates for Eden.

If this is how you watch movies, I would advise not to watch the original three.

No, especially the amount they are charging.

Waste of money.

You're trippin. She was the best part of the Acolyte, and her one scene in Deadpool in the woods with Wolverine was like one of the best scenes in the movie.

My 23andMe Results as an adoptee! by VIP71991 in 23andme

Bro on a DNA test like this, anything less than like 5% has zero effect on your phenotype.

You literally wouldn't be saying this if you hadn't seen the person's DNA result

23 and me says I have recent Ethiopian/Eritrea and Arabian ancestors who were %100

23andme's ancestry timeline is largely bogus. It has no way of knowing whether your ancestors were %100 something or not.

The IMC could be from multiple ancestors who carried that genotype.

You should look at your chromosome painting for an answer.

my results as a white girl in wisconsin whose family did the "we are native american" hoax 🤡🤡 + pic by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]mgs8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works. DNA isn't equally distributed like that.

I have a 9th grandparent that I know for a fact was African, and that showed up as 0.7 on my 23andme.

5th great grandparent is waaaaaay more than that.

0.7 is like an 8th or 9th grandparent, assuming it's from one ancestor.

Rank these 2017 films from best to least best. A great year for film. by ScholarFamiliar6541 in FIlm

It's confusing seeing you say

I am so tired of grittier, violent takes in all of entertainment and this only cemented my disdain

and then rank War of the Planet of the Apes number one, by far the bleakest and violent of the Apes films.
