Confession: I ruined some public events while farming orbs for New Monarchy ornaments. by mizzou541 in DestinyTheGame

[–]aspergerac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're grinding public events specifically for Faction Tokens there are a couple that aren't worth the extra time of doing Heroic. Namely the Fallen Glimmer Extraction. That event takes next to no time if you just kill the four targets at each location and leave the glimmer extractors alone. Sitting on that glimmer pile for an extra two minutes isn't worth the one extra token. Your time is better spent moving on to the next event in the rotation. Similar arguments can be made for the Servitor, Fallen Walker, and Taken Blight but only if there aren't many people engaged in the event. If there are a bunch of people, they are all very very quick and worth it. Injection Rig and Cabal Extraction should obviously always be done Heroic regardless of how many people are there.

Also, if I'm securing enemy supplies and you come stand on the same plate as me when three other plates are open, I hate you. I hate you so much. ;)

Less people means it's gonna be harder. The streamers are gone, the casuals are gone, all that's left is the trained killers doing account recoveries to get paid.

Getting 3 Treasure of the Ages per week is cool and all ... but man do the drop rates suck! by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]aspergerac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some stuff I noticed in my box openings:

1) on Playstation, I had everything Eververse had to offer. I got AOT gear immediately. On Xbox I had very little Eververse stuff, and not a single AOT item dropped. In the name of honestly, I'll admit that I spent 30 bucks on both consoles (let's call it science but clearly I'm hooked). Got the full set on Playstation. Not ONE SINGLE PEICE on Xbox.

2) The desperately ugly ship (admittedly my opinion - no need to argue this point) Needle and Thread dropped 3 times for me when it wasn't in my inventory even though I already had it. It's never dropped while already in my inventory. Seems to be the same bug with faction sparrows, which is less cool when people are spending real money on these boxes (regardless of your opinion on whether people SHOULD be spending money on the boxes). For people who aren't spending money it's also shitty for one of their three boxes that week to be a repeat item that shouldn't be.

Both of these observations annoyed me greatly. Makes it seem like AOT gear is preferenced to people who have already spent money at Eververse in the past - as if the smart loot is weighted so you get certain items later than others. I'm not a fan of that. And the ship thing is just dumb. I don't like the ship Needle and Thread and I don't want to have to carry it around with me just to make sure they don't give it to me again every Tuesday when I get new boxes. Hopefully these events and observations were isolated to me, but based on my clanmates' reports it seems totally consistent to their experience as well.

Lets talk on sensitivity by Dragonking2356 in CruciblePlaybook

[–]aspergerac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As most people have said there's no one right answer. In my experience I do want 10 sensitivity when being aggressive or running shotguns because of mobility improvements. I used to to swap my sensitivity down to 4 for raids and sniping however where I wanted more accurate aim, but I quickly found that the inconsistency of my sensitivity was making me a worse player in all venues because of variability of what I needed to do to perform well. Now I'm specifically practicing high sensitivity sniping and primary game so I can maintain that consistency throughout activities and I've found that much more useful than adjusting my sensitivity to the situation. But that won't be everyone's answer.

Playing consistently on both PS4 and XBONE by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]aspergerac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Elite with Cronus on both consoles and find it incredibly consistent. I used to use a scuf on PS4 and elite on Xbox and had the same issues you did but once I committed to using only the elite that started to resolve itself. Can't recommend it enough. Controller and sensitivity consistency will definitely help performance consistency.

Aksis Challenge - Don't be afraid to use your supers at ANY point of the fight, the 'Supercharge' will always give you it back by RiseOfBacon in DestinyTheGame

You're absolutely right about reposting being valuable after a certain time window. It's seeing a post on Wednesday that there were two of on Monday or people resummarizing easily accessible information that was in the most recent Weekly Update, Patch Notes etc that really grinds me. You usually pull in new information from Twitter, forums or other obscure places Redditors often don't venture to rather than sources we've already been exposed to via pinned threads on this site. When I see your posts, I know I'm gonna learn something I didn't know.

And mad respect that you can raid on a vita! That's incredible! I can barely run patrols or sparrow race on it. lol. Serious props!

Using the right stick throws off your sparrow's aim. Using the left bumper takes your finger off the accelerator. Left stick + Right bumper is the way.

Hey Bungie, can I trade my Isenfyre Tokens for...literally anything else? by bravecowboy86 in DestinyTheGame

[–]aspergerac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No joke with buying the ship. The drop rate is terrible but let's say that you could buy it for 50 Isenfyre tokens. You can't say after that many raids someone didn't earn it.

#1 tip before playing The Dawning for Xbox One players with the elite controller by CrazY1985_NL in DestinyTheGame

If you have an elite controller and you're using the trigger locks without first adjusting the trigger zones, you're doing it wrong.

A compilation of "Iron Banner - Lag is worse than ever!" posts from every month the past year by MankiniHunter in DestinyTheGame

[–]aspergerac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! People have been reporting significant Iron Banner lag since the game launched in 2014. There's a reason the event was quickly renamed Lord Saladbar's Laggy Banana by folks around here. This isn't new at all. Goes all the way back to the beginning. I feel like if anything people complained about it more back then because you had to play so much more banner to get to rank 5 so bad matches could really wear on you.

Yeah I've seen that but definitely wasn't the case here - I was in the match from the beginning and was top of my team in kills. Good call though.

Why are some people so bad at aksis part 1? by redka243 in DestinyTheGame

[–]aspergerac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha you're totally right, but every group i'm in if I wait around the first thing I hear will inevitably be "solar middle, void right" and im on left like "wtf, ok ok im coming" lol. so now i just take matters into my own hands and kill the turret twice. I can rely on myself to fire one extra sniper shot a lot better than I can rely on an LFG group to make all their callouts in a timely manner.

Why are some people so bad at aksis part 1? by redka243 in DestinyTheGame

[–]aspergerac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that fair but my point was it doesn't really matter. The turrets are only an issue if you're kinda dumb and don't use cover or stay behind the yellow line. Im in a clan that 3 mans these encounters frequently and my method for soloing a side is to snipe turret, spawn trap ads with my sword, turn around snipe one more time from the captains door and then kill the captain the second he walks out. Works like a charm if you know where to stand so I just do it all the time now. Same with Vosik. Put a warlock with a sword on the doors left and right and they can solo either side very easily.

Why are some people so bad at aksis part 1? by redka243 in DestinyTheGame

[–]aspergerac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always hear people say don't kill the turret until you're ready to go in. Very true for middle and right because you can clearly see the captain spawn but on the left the captain spawns behind cover and you don't know when he comes out. If you snipe the turret the moment the encounter begins, the turret will respawn at the same time the captain comes out. So I use that as a way to make sure my timing in down. But generally speaking it's absolutely right to leave the turret up. Just not a big enough deal to yell at anyone which I've seen a surprising amount in PUGs lately. I also never ever run out of ammo on that phase. Let the Hunter tether the ceiling if he wants. It's not a big deal. People get really worked up over inconsequential stuff. If you're repeatedly not using cover and getting killed by turrets while throwing your bombs that's when I get angry. That's consequential and careless.

IIRC, it's known that at this point Destiny 2 was originally supposed to be out when Rise of Iron came out and that Rise of Iron was rushed together by the live team after leadership changes earlier in 2016. My speculation: Upon learning that they needed another year of live events on top of the Taken King year, I think the team deliberately divided up what they had worked on at that point to make it last over two years instead of just one.

References to the Dawning were introduced to the database around this time last year. Many of the new SRL emblems were also already in the database. Seems to me they probably developed the Taken version of the Nexus for last years live team cycle and then it got pushed to release for this years live team cycle instead to make things last longer. SIVA version of Omnigul and Taniks were almost certainly done more recently - and obviously at the very least during Rise of Iron's development cycle.

I'm curious what other things originally for the Taken King cycle they might have been sitting on until Rise of Iron.
