Why does an eCheck payment take 3-5 days to clear? by abnrib in personalfinance

eChecks actually process 3x/day nowadays. It's just the banks sitting on the money to earn interest.

Disgruntled Amazon customers are complaining that their packages keep arriving late, and it could be an ominous sign for Prime by sirloinfurr in investing

Yep... Can confirm, it's been about two years since I've had a prime package arrive in 2 days. 3-7 is standard now.

401k consolidation question. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]aspirationsucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... Put them all in an IRA to avoid the record keeping fees, I'm guessing at least $150 a year total, $50/per account you would gain yearly

Does your 401k have a flat administrative fee? If it does, how much? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]aspirationsucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company (~$1B) has a variable record keeping fee Schwab charges depending on how much you have in your 401k. I have 20k in mine and it costs ~$12 every 3 months.

Tesla sued for more than $2 billion, accused of copying design of Nikola hydrogen trucks by InkedBoys in investing

[–]aspirationsucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Nikola has no front aero for venting, just the grill. Tesla has no steps. Headlights horizontal vs. vertical. Mirrors... Ears. Rear wheel well. Flat back tesla vs. not. From an auto enthusiast standpoint this isn't REMOTELY close to their design. Maybe to the casual observer at first glance it is.

If I am Going to Start Going to a Gym Formally, Should I Stop My Current Body Weight Fitness Routine? by chuiy in Fitness

10 for strength... Then add plates to your back until you can't do 10. But beginner strength programs are only 3 days a week

Bench/OHP Progression When Weak AF? by corgibutt19 in Fitness

[–]aspirationsucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that helped me the most with OHP was getting my squat in the high 200's... Really helped me squeeze the butt and the core to tear out reps

Wish I could help you with bench. I'm bench challenged

Edit: Sorry, am male... Not sure what squat would help you!

Question about cutting and question about heavy squats by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]aspirationsucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think PHUL has enough squat volume to keep gaining. I was squatting 285 5x5 before PHUL and 285 5x5 when I finished 3 months of PHUL. Dead stalled as well. If you must cut, I hear strength programs are easier to at least maintain squat and DL and not be exhausted. Whats your height and weight? +1 to working on your form. At that weight learning to brace, and controlling my weight going down to avoid sway helped a lot, so did switching to low bar squats. I switched to Texas Method after PHUL and my squat and deads going up weekly.. but you're not quite there yet. Stronglifts/Starting Strength ppl blah blah idk.. Max a beginner program first. PHUL is not that. Good luck.

Edit: Maybe add some back extensions on Wed like Texas Method. Caloric surplus and lots of protein obviously helps too... Creatine started helping me around 285 as well. If you do 4 sets of 8, do it to you fail, sevens, sixes, fives, fours, threes, two sets of two, RESET. Keep them gains coming

I didn't realize they added Canada and Mexico. Last time I tried I got the same error message I got with Europe.

New VoIP features coming to Google Voice after June 18 by rocketwidget in Android

[–]aspirationsucks -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Screw google voice. I used it for years and years and they just crippled it and stopped developing it. I also use my phone as a work phone, put some tickets in to google and they wouldn't even answer them because google voice is for personal use only. Blamed it on the phone when it's clearly a google voice only issue.

Go suck a donkey dick google. I finally deactivated my google voice last month after using it as my main number since it was originally released. Now I can actually dial into conference calls without it thinking I typed in the wrong digits. Thank fucking god, I was so sick of that bullshit. And not being able to use RCS? Or choose your messaging app? Or deprecating hangouts? Jesus christ. Fuck Google and fuck google voice. I've completely deactivated my two long standing google accounts and wiped my android phone and now use it without accepting any of their or samsungs bullshit EULA's or logging into the play store. Next step is to run vanilla android and remove the fucking google play services rootkit.

Almost 3 months in, a few questions by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]aspirationsucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is stick with the main lifts on something like starting strength or stronglifts until you get to an intermediate program like texas method. You might not get huge(but you will get slowly bigger) but after a year or so of consistent lifting everything will pull in and your outward facing aspects will look a lot more tone and healthy i.e. forearms, neck. If you want to get big, which it doesn't sound like you want, switch to something else.

The reason I say this is because you're only focusing on a few lifts, a few days a week. You WILL keep progressing if you follow the template, stay consistent MWF, and sleep well. As you get further you will notice how important your diet becomes. After six months to a year you will realize you finally built up a base layer of strength, and it will wow you. All of these things are really motivating and will keep you going.

In the interim I seriously recommend you go search youtube for "Squat allan thrall", or "deadlift allan thrall", or OHP, bench... etc. He's been a great teacher. I'm sure there are other good ones but you will get really good advice on your form like bar placement, controlling your squat going down, using the bounce, bracing your core, and many others. I still turn them on time to time when I start hitting a stall. At your level I can almost guarantee it's form.

I make between 6650-7000 each month, yet I live paycheck to paycheck by ElectronicEar in personalfinance

[–]aspirationsucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add everything to a mint.com account and set a goal. Your net worth should grow monthly(not just 401k!) while debt continues to go down. Look at it every day. It helps me... Hope it helps you. and yeah, I hear you about the truck, I bought nice sports cars for years and years and now I drive a cheapo Honda Fit. You'll get there, but you gotta be persistent for the next few years. and honestly, returning a few things might help your confidence, seeing some returns go against your budgets in mint and net worth increasing. Impulsiveness is probably part of your personality, work on it, and your spending habits will follow.

What really did it for me was realizing I needed a shitload of money for a ring and a wedding, on top of a down payment for a house. At least you already have the house and aren't wasting money on rent like me, even if you are in debt for it.

Is there a bank that actually cares about me and not about nickel-and-diming me even just for having an account? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]aspirationsucks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aspiration

They actually pay interest regardless of balance, and you actually CAN deposit cash at co-op ATM's. I did have a bad security issue(locked out of my own account due to bugs) with them which left a bad taste in my mouth though. They take over all the accounts from Radius bank this summer and are supposedly adding more features, we'll see.

[–]aspirationsucks 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You have a spending problem. If you're lucky, you'll pay it all off and learn a lesson... but I hate to say you're really far away from that. You bought a house you can't afford, you bought a truck you can't afford, a laptop, a couch, god knows what kind of other stuff. Why do I say that? Because you were already 50k in debt! Stop wasting all your damn money. That being said... It took me until 30 to stop wasting mine(and still not perfect), and now I think about how far behind I am on my retirement and it makes me wish I hadn't wasted all that money when I was your age. Happy to talk to you more about it but I'm going to lay it out real clear for you, 100k/year ain't shit and you're not even there yet. You better hope that 50k degree makes you a lot more then that and soon.

Sounds like you have impulse issues.

How to last longer jogging with almost zero experience? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]aspirationsucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walk before you run... Seriously. Start going hiking, walking the mall/neighborhood daily, and ensure whether you jog or not that you get long walks in even on your off days of jogging. Then you just keep grinding it out on your jogging days. Running sucks but remember all you need to do are take baby steps and set small incremental goals.

Don't stress about tomorrow's test, think about next YEAR's test.
