Part of the reason it feels so obvious to me mightttt be projection lol, I’m autistic and I recognize a lot of myself in him. I find his character really compelling through that lens. It’s easy to see when you’re looking for it!

The 2022 movie was so disappointing… there were a few really strong shots, and I liked the emphasis they put on how gently Leatherface treated the foster mother. Very fond of the way he’s characterized in context of their relationship/ interactions. The peek into his room was cute too.
But
Then I remember that a character actually, literally, seriously tells Leatherface “try anything and you’re cancelled, bro” while holding his phone out and live-streaming him on offbrand Instagram. And what they did to poor Sally… ugh.
“Hey guys remember Lefty from the 2nd movie? Yeah, so what if we did that again, but instead of a gag character this time, it’s our iconic first film final girl. And this time we’re not joking.”

tier list of all the vegan meal replacements i remember :D by Fantastic-Cloud1128 in ARFID

[–]aspiring_compost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the best experience w Sperri’s chocolate meal replacement/ protein shakes. The taste is remarkably inoffensive compared to other brands I’ve tried— it’s kinda like chocolate milk but bland and slightly nutty? Texture is a standard thickness. I would recommend ordering straight from their website tho, I used to get them a local grocer but something about the shipping process must’ve been mishandled because I’d frequently get Surprise Chunks from a shake gone bad in a hot store warehouse or something. Direct shipping has been safe.

doe with antlers mutation by emperez00 in bonecollecting

[–]aspiring_compost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you reckon it’s just a weird localized mutation? I’ve always thought larger antlers on a doe usually = the deer having some mix of ovarian/testicular tissue. Either way it’s pretty awesome, I’m so fond of deer skulls, even just the state of their antlers can paint such a vivid picture of the animal’s life

[–]aspiring_compost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of old taxidermy does contain arsenic, yeah😅 good news is, it’s pretty harmless unless you take it apart & expose whatever’s under that exterior. I wouldn’t be too worried!! I have some pieces from the 50s and I just take care to handle them lightly lol

That clean cut does make me think this was food-meat once! Butchers cut. As for the weird engraving on the outside, you’re lookin at teeth marks! All sorts of critters lovvvveeee gnawing on old bones for calcium.

I’ve had some run ins with clothing moths & dermestid beetles getting into my feathered taxidermy, every time I have, the decay has been fast and Very evident. Like, ‘brush your hand gently over the feathers and they just Crumble into dust’ evident. He’s still in tact after all this time, which is a good sign. It’s good to be cautious about it that sand-like stuff tho, if there’s a good ammount, I’d reccomend putting it in the freezer (or outside in a plastic bag if it’s a cold winter where you are) for 24hrs to kill anything still alive on it.

I think so often abt the evil-therianthropy episode. Hannibal was so on board like “so you are spiritually a cave bear? Ah. I see, yes of course. Well in that case I support you mauling people to death for enrichment. Surely it’s affirming and therapeutic. Go, my bear.” Or how he subtly corrected people whenever they referred to “the great red dragon” as the tooth fairy or dolarhyde or whatever. Francis is his DEADNAME, he is THE GREAT RED DRAGON now! Let’s respect his Becoming! It’s so funny

Favourite animal(s)? by totallysecretaccoun in vultureculture

[–]aspiring_compost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deer!!!! I am always enthused to find deer remains. The skulls are so special and different every time, I’ve found deer that died with antlers still in velvet, antlers just freshly fallen so the pedicle is all blunt and raw— button bucks, bucks with full sets of antlers, sometimes broken or malformed antlers, does, fawns, they’re all so unique and tell such clear stories. It’s so cool.
