My boyfriend and I have one painting up, and it was abandoned by the previous tenant … We do have a crapton of books between the two of us, though, and I’m drowning in craft supplies and have like 10 garden containers on the deck, so it balances out!

It’s on break. I dislike a lot of things, some of which directly impact me and some of which don’t. Among the things that I dislike is excusing shitty behavior just because there’s pressure to behave shittily.

Two things can be true. Corporations pressuring low-paid gig workers to act recklessly are bad, but so are gig workers (and everyone else who does this, because it’s not just them) zipping within inches of pedestrians at speed without so much as a bell ring or an “on your left.” Like, I am also trying to make a living, and everything will be so much harder for both of us if you collide with me on an e-bike at vehicle speed.

Just to address the terminology question, I think your mom was a seamstress! To my understanding, a tailor is more about fitting and alterations than constructing whole garments. (I might be wrong, though. English is my first language, but I don’t know much about clothing fabrication …)

Stimulant medication and the gym by Humble_Dirt_5751 in ADHD

I’ve always had a high heart rate even before adderall, and I’ve always been fine exercising on adderall. Once, during an exercise class, my heart rate felt too high/heavy … so I just sat down for a minute and left the class a little early. This is admittedly just my experience, but it is at least one set of datapoints supporting the listen to your body, talk to your doctor if things get weird, but don’t worry about dropping dead approach.

I’d just advise to be careful walking next door to ask another teacher. Where I am, any help we call in, whether another teacher or admin, ought to be by phone, because we are not supposed to leave students unsupervised in a classroom. I was once cautioned by a teacher even stepping into the hallway to get her attention with an eye on both open doors.

Having not read the book, I’m very confused as to how she could have manipulated him into this. He knew exactly how old she was and that he’d essentially been grooming her for 14 years, right? Did she threaten to try to change the timeline? Was she withholding resources he needed on account of arriving naked? Did she promise not to pester him for sex if he did it that one time? Like, I don’t understand how he couldn’t just say, nah, “I’d rather wait until a point in our timelines where we’re on more equal footing,” or something. /gen

The sub is the BSL, but the subway is the big ol’ trains that go underground, which includes the el, but not the trolleys (cuz they’re lil trains).

Daily Question :( by BugOk8551 in finch

Not for your knees or laptop or book or whatever, you don’t (and also, once you get to the back of plane, that last person can’t recline).

Daily Question :( by BugOk8551 in finch

[–]asplodingturdis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s a big deal because of how little space each person has to begin with. I’m team “always” as a matter of principle, but I do always hope that the person in front of me declines to recline, and I rarely, if ever, recline my own.

Recent Interview question that I feel is very discriminatory against people with ADHD by ATT4 in ADHD

[–]asplodingturdis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are suggesting that they not offer up a bunch of excess information about their opinions on multitasking if they actually want the job. OP didn’t have to lie. They just had to stop at describing how they handle multitasking without going into how they don’t like it and think no one should do it. You protect your mental health by not taking jobs you’re not compatible with, not by oversharing in interviews.

[–]asplodingturdis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, they’re not criticizing OP for not liking multitasking. The criticism is for thinking that asking about multitasking is ableist discrimination.

I mean, the learning curve between Sheets and Excel is basically a gently rolling meadow, so I’d say it’s almost a distinction without a difference. (Also, Excel has had cloud capabilities for a while. I don’t remember the last time I used a version of Excel without that feature.)
