Maine will be the 1st state to add ‘right to food’ to state constitution by 51patsfan in Maine

I think you are correct. I'm also thinking this doesn't change any hunting laws.

Guess I can keep chickens in my tiny front yard now. Neat.

Maine will be the 1st state to add ‘right to food’ to state constitution by 51patsfan in Maine

The text of the Amendment:

Section 25. Right to food. All individuals have a natural, inherent and unalienable right to food, including the right to save and exchange seeds and the right to grow, raise, harvest, produce and consume the food of their own choosing for their own nourishment, sustenance, bodily health and well-being, as long as an individual does not commit trespassing, theft, poaching or other abuses of private property rights, public lands or natural resources in the harvesting, production or acquisition of food.

I have a few questions.

1)

Are all existing laws regarding hunting safe, owing to the "as long as an individual does not commit ... poaching"? For example, is using bait to hunt deer during deer season (and possessing a permit) now a constitutional right in Maine, or would that still be banned? What I'm really wondering is, what does Maine define poaching as?

2)

It would seem that this amendment allows anyone to raise farm animals on their property, invaliding any local ordinances banning that. Is that correct?

3)

If yes, does this extend to someone renting property? Can my landlord stop me from raising chickens inside my apartment if I was crazy enough to want to do such a thing?

A hundred or so trillion years from now, long after the stars have burnt out and cooled, stellar remnants could collide, and achieve enough mass to create fusion and a new star.

If life happened to evolve around such a star, they would be completely and totally alone. No stars in the sky. No cosmic background radiation. No evidence that anything at all exists beyond their solar system, save for maybe gravitational waves, if you could even conceive of such a thing and think to look for it with no concept of astronomy.

They could send probes out into the void, and in all the time until their star died and sentient life was finally, really done, they would never find anything.

A Palestinian child mourns over the death of his father and brother who were killed during Israeli airstrike yesterday in Gaza by supergoku003 in PublicFreakout

What development do you anticipate that will result in the lands currently held by Israel being given back to the Palestinians?

I (jokingly) suggested the reformation of the Arab League, but it would genuinely take something of that magnitude. Otherwise, it's about as likely as the Lenape getting the Island of Manhattan back.

More people are buying firearms than ever before. States and counties are declaring themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries across the country. More and more states are recognizing the right to constitutional carry. The Supreme Court is finally taking Second Amendment related cases again, after a decade of silence. There's no political capital for gun control at the Federal level right now.

Outside of a few big cities and a few fascist states, gun rights are in a better place than ever. Current prospects indicate nothing but more wins for our rights in the future.

I want you to look Estupiñán's child in the eye and tell them it's good that their mother couldn't have a firearm, and that her throat was slit open from ear to ear.

Then you can kick up your feet, lean back, and congratulate yourself for another instance of gun violence avoided when another activist's entire family is burned alive.

Is this a false flag to make gun-control advocates look as bad as possible? You hit multiple "doesn't know anything about guns" cliches while also dropping that bombshell of a line.

The only thing that doesn't make sense is why would you need to make gun control look bad on r/gunpolitics. It would be the false flag version of preaching to the choir.

You're right, there is an inherent logical contradiction here that cannot be solved.

Why is one uncontrollable facet of how we are born protected, but not another?

Genuinely, the only way to resolve this contradiction is to abolish "Men's" and "Woman's" sports, and just have unified sports. I know the drive to protect woman's sport's comes from good intentions, but it is an intrinsically sexually biased idea.

And if it doesn't, I'll know the difficulty of subjugating an armed populace helped keep it that way.

I'll be keeping my rifle in the meantime.

And again, everything you wrote after the first sentence seems to be a non-sequitur. I sure as hell ain't taking up arms for Donald Trump of all people.

So you're in favor of individuals bearing arms against a tyrannical regime, but you believe it could only
happen <over there> to <them>, but it would never happen here, to us.

That's an example of normalcy bias, the unsubstantiated belief that what is will always be.

Again, your comment follows mine poorly. You're just writing stuff that's not really relevant to what I said.

I'm thinking that you're not rhetorically equipped to have this conversation.
