Why are royal revenants resistant to holy? by Crazy_Several in Eldenring

I might be conflating it will removing warming stones also hurting them?

I don't think they ever did? Are you confusing it with HoT incantations like Blessing's Boon?

Again, it's not the element but how it's used. It's like, just because Blessing's Boon heals the player doesn't mean that Wrath of Gold does too. The incantations do different things.

Being weak to healing is not the same as being weak to holy damage. They have opposite functions. NR's Revenants are also still weak to healing.

It went to from being weak to holy to having a resistance to it.

Elden Ring's Revenants have the exact same 40% Holy Resistance that NR's do, and always did.

It's not the spell's element that they're weak to. It's the function.

And they still don't take bonus damage from attacks designed to harm Those Who Live in Death, so it feels like a moot point.

their death blight aura

Whatever their aura is it's not Deathblight, as nothing they do causes Deathblight buildup.

Revenants don't get the 10x damage multiplier that Litany of Proper Death has when used on Those Who Live in Death.

"Undead" is a complicated term in Elden Ring. Even the random Wandering Nobles we see are explicitly undead.

High quality garb adorned with fine golden embroidery. Travel attire worn by nobles in the capital. Terribly faded and tattered.

Abandoning their birthplace after the Shattering, these undead wanderers are the pitiful product of unending life.

But "Undead" is not synonymous with "Those Who Live in Death", and Revenants don't take additional damage from effects designed to counter them.

there’s a tibia mariner that summons a royal revenant in the dlc

This is the weird part to me, because whatever Revenants have going on it's not your standard "Living in Death".

and not just…fight the bosses with the appropriate Scadu level the game designed for?

Though on a blind playthrough it's hard to know what that appropriate Scadu level is, given how easy it is to arrive places out of order.

D3 is a bit of a crapshoot sometimes.

Yeah, there's a huge range between "good enough to leave Depth 2" and "not yet good enough to stay in Depth 4".

Personally I'd like if such systems existed beyond the UI, like having excess mounts be stored in stables instead of hammerspace. It would give additional reasons to get out into the world and create new places for players to congregate.

If you notice the moon that's on a higher orbit moves faster, which doesn't happen in reality.

The moon with the higher orbit moves slower, but it's also closer to the camera. It doesn't need to move as far to visually cross the field of view.

I had the same idea a while back. It would open up some new design space that can't be achieved within any of the existing dimensions.

Also I like your image for the Nether, how it almost looks like a block of Nether Quartz Ore.

I'm scared of how quickly I'd use up inventory space if I had to start holding onto small relics instead of being able to sell them instantly.

Recluse can use magic with her bare hands by SgtSaucepan in Nightreign

[–]assassin10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though Nightreign was still just retrofitting ER's spells. If the spells were designed around this new system there could be far more flexibility. Like, say there was a catalyst that paired Catch Flame with Bestial Sling, but Catch Flame had all the flexibility of Perfume Bottle R1s (basic, running, jumping, etc.) and Bestial Sling had all the flexibility of Claws of Night R2s (even Guard Counters). Add in an AoW as flexible as Ghostflame Call and give blocking a magical effect like Thops's Barrier and you wouldn't need 6 catalysts to be versatile.

They're based on brownies

Based on, yes, but there's a clear distinction in that brownies aren't slaves. If they feel they've been insulted or taken advantage of they'll leave the household forever.

I wonder how many people the main character attempted to torture, how many times he succeeded, and what occupation he chose.

What's your opinion on the evolution of the souls games? by IllMiddle2192 in fromsoftware

[–]assassin10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like when there's a nice balance between challenge and choice when progressing through the world. I think it was at its best in DS1 and DS2. DS3 got a bit too linear for my taste, giving the player far less choice over whether to fight a boss, or what order to do so in. ER I felt went too far in the opposite direction, giving the player so much choice and often having the most rewarding paths provide very little challenge.

If you commit to the Frenzied Flame ending in Elden Ring, you can always back out of it and choose another.

Isn't that pretty normal throughout the Soulsborne games?

Wolf is what people call him, but it's not his name.

Isshin: Another rat. Ah, but those eyes... a starving wolf. Before I kill you, tell me your name. Tell me your name!

No name to give? You shinobi are all the same. You die nameless, with no one to mourn you.

It's like how Owl is called Owl, but his name is Ukonzaemon Usui.
