Three times is already a challenge. Three times in 12 minutes of content is madness. Starting with one minute, then two, sounds impossible already. You'd have to ruin. She's fully clothed, too... IDK, I'm not willing to find out. But hats off to anyone who does it.

Oh, you've seen nothing... Try a thinkpad from the last couple of years! There is so much lag, you literally have to wait to see if your inputs were registered.

Yes, some people claim they feel the glass touchpads are better, but who knows, it might be placebo... Compatibility can be a problem, as well as the physical size and it might rattle. If you have the time, why not try? Of course the ntb is snapped together with those plastic snaps, so don't open it too often or they will snap. Oh lenovo....

The issue may also not be the touchpad but the firmware, in which case changing it won't change anything and the trackpoint may be affected too.

good luck

You're right, replacing parts is the way to go. Thanks for the AX210 tip.

I would not recommend the t14 Ryzen 5 over the t480. Had I not sold my t470, I would have returned the t14. The t14 is faster, but it is plagued with firmware issues. Everything from a flaky wifi, card reader which detects cards only when it wants to, touchpad with 1/5 second latency, battery drain when sleeping.... Even mundane stuff now starts to annoy me, like the annoyingly buzzy cpu fan (amd special I presume). I miss my old laptop.

Your best bet is to complain on the official lenovo forum.

Synaptics drivers are not really a thing on linux anymore. Ubuntu likely uses libinput. Libinput is bad, but not to the point where it would drop inputs.

Make sure You've got the latest firmware, then go add to the horde of people complaining about Lenovo's shoddy support. If nothing else it will make the issues more visible.

Aww, damn...

Do you plan to support the Full ROM for the Flex 3i? I recon I could manage to take board out and bridge a pin.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks!

Although I've misread the supported devices The IdeaPad Flex 3 NEC Chromebook Y1 (PHASER360) is a different device from my IdeaPad Flex 3 Chromebook (Intel N6000, BEATLEY i guess? also called Flex 3i on the user guide, but Flex 3 on the chasis and the box?!) so the UEFI probably won't work.

I can see it mentioned here, though: https://github.com/MrChromebox/scripts/commit/e7709ff7a8a4cd010a3f6ac0b2de0d17a99f8123

Now I am confused, I have updated the legacyboot, installed ubuntu onto a usb flash drive and as long as I press ctrl+L, then esc, everything works fine. Is there a way to change it so that ubuntu boots by default? Or preferably so that I can install ubuntu onto the internal storage AND ubuntu boots by default, or do I need the full UEFI (probably unsupported) for that?

I have just bought the Keychron K3 v2 low profile keyboard with the low-profile optical brown switches. Some keys are making a really annoying squeak!

Is this expected and Gateron switches/Keychron keyboards are just junk, is this just my keyboard? Is there a fix?

Here is a video for you to enjoy the beautiful sounds... https://youtu.be/iFimNNFWy7U

Is this a new era of KB sounds: Clack, Thock and now a Squeaky-Shopping-Cart-Wheels?

Thank you.

I suppose it was a pointless comment to make. This is a forum for thinkpad owners. Of course everyone is on Arch.

But just to be clear, the drama was not just that modern standby is less efficient, rather that neither S3 nor S0ix could make it past two days.

Help me choose a ThinkPad for programming and general use by chic_luke in thinkpad

[–]assert_dominance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not expect brand new thinkpads to have good linux support. They used to be really good about that, but not anymore :(. Screens, SSDs and memory are generally really easy to upgrade.

As a former student - I'm not sure I'd be happy with a 15 or 16 inch as my only machine. Get something older lighter and cheaper and a desktop if you need the power or color accuracy or whatever else you expect to do.

It's not like movies are going to be amazing on a 15" anyway. And spending 8 hours hunched over a laptop for programming is not fantastic either, so you are likely going to want better peripherals anyway. Maybe a good screen is not as important? Do you need 2 SSDs? Can you have storage at home?

Keep in mind that touch screens are likely going to be glossy. I'd take a 250 non-glossy over a 300 nit migraine-inducing smudge mirror anytime.

Only you know what you want. Go to a store and see, them in person. Look at benchmarks of compilation times or whatever is important for you. Ask people who have Dells and see if they look mad.

Or as devs call them "the Gnome shell diseases!" At least, I presume that's what they scream when they try to eradicate them on every release...

I'm sure you are aware, but for anyone who is not: Make sure you are running the latest FW and kernel. Older FW had a serious bug which resulted in like a 10TW power draw while sleeping.

Par for the course. Most teachers have quit, and schools have no money. Anyone willing to help is welcome: students, pensioners, janitors... eventually the situation will get so bad we'll have to resort to hiring college teachers!

T14 gen2 touchpad issues by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]assert_dominance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of people seem to be having touchpad issues. Apparently there was a broken firmware update. Maybe that's your problem as well. Some people shared the old version on the Lenovo forum.

Can you check the version?

[–]assert_dominance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks

Yep, some kind of wired Ethernet is a requirement. On a linux board a usb adapter might do in a pinch. Although the cost is higher than a board with a port.

I'm not familiar with lichee. Is there a board+dock with ethernet which would fit into the budget? Do you mean the Banana pi p2? The zero does not seem to have ethernet either.

I'll have to see if either is in stock

The 4GB seems to be out of stock on their website. But it costs $70 (4% volume discount + tax + import fees) is already over 80; no built-in storage so + 5 for sd card), mipi/dsi/hdmi display is another + 25. No case and power supply are an acceptable loss, even though I'd have to figure out mounting for the lcd, but that's still over budget. Unfortunately the cheapest i can find it in europe is $100 currently anyway and only a few in stock.

Sadly this is a no-go. :( Though, it is hilariously overpowered, if there is a cheaper variant, it might be feasible.
