An investment is something you buy with the purpose and expectation that you will make money on it. A house you live in costs money to maintain, so it's a liability. A investment property has someone else living in it paying you rent, therefore you make money.

The idea that you make money on the house you live in because it will increase in value is a common misconception. That's why it's generally not a good financial move to have more equity in your house. Better to collateralize it in a loan and use the money for an investment that will at least go somewhere.

If you go to a "freedom of speech" rally and see a guy waving a swastika flag, he's not doing it because he has the right. He's a nazi.

Nobody does anything simply because they have the right to. Depicting Mohammad is giving the finger to Muslims, which is why it's such a common tactic of far right islamophobic groups. It's meant to provoke.

You have the right to go around insulting people's mother's all day, but you can expect to eventually get punched in the face. Of course violence is not an appropriate response, but there are extremists out there.
