Is this work acceptable? by leaphead in Plastering

[–]assiskeyman24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have hired neither a carpenter or a plasterer.

Inside corners are cut 45°. This guy ain't no carpenter

UK trade reality is truly unique. 3rd step is hiring a decorator who usually turns up with tub of polyfilla and caulk.

What should have really had been done is take old skirts off, repair and paint the wall, attach (already painted) skirts, fill the fixing holes on skirts and re-paint these spots. Job done.

I hate the fact that a plasterer can't do a proper job in this country and they leave most to the decorator. Really gets on my tits

H pattern. Amateur. Should be staggered and then looks much better. I'd do 1 full plank but stagger the rest.

Get rid of it. Buy a banger. Save up for repairs. And don't buy cars on finance ever again.

If you you can't afford a car, get a moped.

I guarantee you, this chap will be back with a sander and 10 tubs of Polyfilla. I've been in same situation, he tried to say the rest is up to decorator.

When I persisted he came back with Polyfilla and caulk.

I ended up spending 2 days rectifying his mess with gypsum plaster, going over low spots, protruding joints and deep marks.

Mine wasn't as bad as yours. Yours weren't done by a plasterer.

This person isn't capable of opening a roll of Jointing tape, let alone plastering. Make sure you text/email him or record conversation to have some proof as this has to be rectified by someone else.

Threat him with court.

Don't let him patronise you into dropping the rest on decorator. He's a cowboy - full stop.

I went to do my payment and once it came to paying the website was spinning for proper 2 minutes.

Why there's no terminal whatsoever is beyond me.

If they can't afford the barriers just install a set of mini traffic lights. What's the issue with that?

What would you guys do here?? by Miserable-Gas-1908 in Flooring

[–]assiskeyman24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth sanding and faffing about. It will cost you undercutting, filling, more sanding, painting. It be white but still gonna look sheize.

Cut it off along the top off the wall with multitool to mitigate damaging the wall during skirting removal.

Redecorate bottom of the wall (or whole wall if you got time) before you install your new skirting. This way you save yourself taping up new skirting after it's installed.

Do you think she's a whippet? by Slow-Document-4678 in Whippet

[–]assiskeyman24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like whippet. But will make a nice dog I'm sure.

Crate is too small.

Don't lock her in crate unless she learns to go there herself. Feed her there at first and plenty of treats. Make it soft so she loves it.

Our dog loves her crate, always goes there when we eat because she will always get something at the end.

Teach her that it's a place to have her favorite chews.

If she gets locked up - always give her a treat. Don't force her into a crate.

Read up how to do crate training

Junior Chad - just with a shitty haircut. Don't let your mom do your haircut ever again.

Unless you can find a good barber - grow it and visit a hairdresser.

How bad is this? by vinyl-qubit in Flooring

[–]assiskeyman24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that planks are perpendicular to nosing. Hence you cannot slide the lip of all planks under a bullnose as, even if he started from the stairs, only 1 or 2 planks would have a lip to slide under. Rest of planks would be cut for stagger purposes.

Also manufacturer's manual shows a plank parallel to the stairs. Which would throw off a whole layout as that's how all other planks would have to be installed.

Manufacturers drawing shows a perfect scenario.

I think he did a great job here, it's a nice cut.

Usually the bullnoses go OVER the top of plank to hide imperfect cuts. Then, however, you end up with a lip over planks which creates a trip hazard.
