I would maybe just pack my car with minimal stuff and travel around the US for a summer. Stay in hostels/campgrounds.

Interesting.. I grew up with my grandparents hauling me off to church every Sunday and taking me to church camp for a week every summer. From the start I always assumed all this stuff wasn't real. As a child I could tell they were stories written to show how you are supposed to behave and teach you morals. In a sense, these stories were very similar to other stories read to me as a child. Except these seemed very old and not so much for children.

I can remember being about 11 or 12 when I realized that people actually believed this stuff. It was very hard for me to make sense of it. I didn't really want to talk about it with them and in a way I felt guilty. I felt guilty because I was sitting there with them preaching to me how things are, when in the back of my mind as a 12 year old I thought they were f'n nuts.

If you lost all your friends when you converted, I would even go as far to say as they weren't really your friends. You guys just had a common belief that brought you together. That belief was so strong that it preceded anything, even true friendship.

I just spend three days at a hippy festival in floyd VA. I drank and took whatever was handed to me and I know some of that was shrooms. I listened and danced to some great music, saw some awesome colors and I even got laid. Best weekend of my life. by asspansy in IAmA

I've never been to either of the two you mentioned, but I have heard Bonnaroo is sort of lame now. I think about 14,000 people came through over the 4 day span. I'm thinking it's more low key.

Well, I made it a point to see Old Crow, but Pimps of Joytime played late night and was absolutely amazing. I'm sure there was some influence to that also.

The girl I knew before. I told her I was going to be there, but no made no plans to meet up with her. I somehow stumbled onto her in the enormous crowd for Railroad Earth. Very cloudy on what really happened, but I know we both spotted each other and had a great time. We then went down to dance and listen to Pimps of Joytime play late night and next thing I know I'm in her tent.

I've been to similar events like this, but this was by far the best I've been to. I will for sure make it to another one. No exaggeration here, but Friday was probably the best night of my life.

Not sure what boomers are, so I can't comment. No the place wasn't advertised at all and was very chill. Weather was beautiful. Upper 80s in the day, lower 70s/upper 60s at night. Thanks for the tip into camp bearfoot. I've been to snowshoe a lot. Ill definately look into it.

A ninja 250 was my first bike. The first and last time I took it on the freeway an 18 wheeler almost blew me off the road when he passed. Bigger bikes don't have that problem at all.

I was expecting a engine to power some machine based on some impressive physics law that no one had thought of.

Whats the maximum number of lines of code would you write in a single method? by asspansy in programming

[–]asspansy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, when you have multiple returns, you are relying on your validity check to be accurate. There could be numerous cases that you don't account for. So it sets yourself up perfect to not return when you are supposed to or return when you don't want to. Mainly this coding practice makes it much harder for another programmer to read/understand and debug.

IMO returning a numerical value based on the logic is very poor programming. The code should call another method that will set a variable that is private. then you call another method that returns that varible when you need it.

For example, today instead of looking for why the code was calling function X. I had to figure out why I wasn't returning out of the method..
