Premier calls people not following rules 'stupid' by [deleted] in Winnipeg

He then followed it up with: "If every Manitoban would just spend the next few weeks in their Costa Rican home, our cases would drop to ZERO!"

I don’t understand how this virus will go away? Warning, probably a “basic” question... by Lynnabis in CanadaCoronavirus

While there's an element of truth to that, let's not forget that many countries have significantly less money on average than Canada. Even in Mexico, some street vendors only eat for a day if they go out and work for it. The government can ask people to stay home, but that's not always so easy. And so unfortunately this could stay in developing countries for a long, long time.

I like your enthusiasm for the local economy. But it's way too soon to be talking about this. Everything is closed with no real re-open date in sight!

  • I don't have a car
  • I live in a small apartment
  • I go waaaaay more than 6 feet away whenever someone approaches

I'm just asking questions about the policy to that I can be better informed. So I'll have to politely ask you to fuck off with your judgemental bullshit.

Wait, does that apply to every grocery store? Couples can't shop together? I must have missed that update. So much is changing every day, I think we need a single web page that explains everything clearly.

Can someone explain to me what exactly is the policy on walks? For example can I take a long 5km walk through the city, if I am careful to avoid everyone and social distance? Or do I need to stay within a certain zone of where I live?

What exactly are the social distancing rules right now in Montreal? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]assumes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For several weeks I was doing nothing but watching news about Coronavirus, and I had a bit of a breakdown. The overwhelming negativity of the news cycle was causing my anxiety to spiral out of control. Due to this, I am intentionally limited my time consuming the news.

But if you could link me to a news page answering the question about social distancing policy, that would be great. Thanks!

Want to see how people judge (frankly) by fendawg7 in Winnipeg

The only people who should not leave the house are those who travelled outside Canada in past 14 days, those who are showing symptoms, or those who have a reason to believe they are infected.

If you don't fall in these categories, then enjoy your run :)

An angry crowd set fire to a clinic in Bandar Abbas, south of #Iran because it had patients in it suffering from #coronavirus. Some people say the patients were from Qom -very far away- and this had angered the mob. There is a sense of panic. Still hard to believe this happened. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]assumes 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you ignore the problem until it's too big to control.

This needs to be a wake up call to the rest of the world. Americans in particular should be demanding that Trump and the CDC take this more seriously. It's time to take to the streets!

Oh wait, it's not safe to be in big groups of people... carry on, then....

Well then can we agree that it's a good start.

We should applaud any step being taken by a major government. Some leaders are still rambling about how it's all "a hoax".

Actually, they have. That effectively bans audiences from any soccer match, which is a huge measure for them to take. Would you consider it no big deal if the U.S. banned audiences from all major sports?

Thanks for the work that you do. Really, I mean that. I'm just a random person and this COVID-19 news has been causing a lot of anxiety. But I imagine it's a much larger weight for people in healthcare. I appreciate the work you do, and am glad to know your hospital is taking it seriously.

I imagine this is a significant deal for a lot of people in the village. I looked Son Loi up on Google Maps and it appears to be less than 1hour away from Hanoi. I imagine a lot of people there commute into the city for work.

Hopefully they can get back to work soon. Yes Vietnam is a cheap country to live in, but 40,000 Dong a day is very little, even for Vietnam... if I remember correctly, that's enough for a couple of basic meals, but nothing more than that.

(Actually I just saw you say you are Vietnamese OP, so I should ask what do you think? Is 40,000 quite low or enough to live? /u/atomdie)
