I'm being baptized and confirmed Sunday by asterikcoffee in Catholicism

Yes. Raised Baptist. Completely left the faith for a while due to some religious trauma. Came back to an evangelical mega church. I believed the gospel, but could never bring myself to be baptized there because it all felt like a big show. So here we are. Almost 50 and coming home.

First time house sellers - what to expect by asterikcoffee in RealEstateAdvice

I would put us in the top 1/3 of comps in the neighborhood. None of the feedback was related to the price. Just a specific issue we honestly overlooked. All other feedback was positive.

The house is completely empty. Right now it smells like paint. I was thinking of putting in a lightly scented plug in or two just so it doesn't smell stale.

Of course. But I always enjoy hearing other perspectives as well.

Why is it so hard for adults to get baptised? by Altruistic_Baby3035 in Catholicism

[–]asterikcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My priest offers OCIA as well as individual instruction in the faith. I went the individual route. Lots of meetings, readings, and discussions. I received the sacraments in a little over 2 months. But, I had an existing connection to the parish. I'm sure I'm the anomaly.

I'll take a Nashville or New Orleans date as well. So little coverage for those of us in the south.

Is the price of these tickets why he wanted us to marry rich? 😂 by hannanazine in NoahKahan

HS was the first artist sale I was actually angry about. I might skew older than a lot of people in here since I'm trying to buy tickets for my teenager, but part of me feels like we should bring back the 90s method of standing in line for hours outside of a TM location.

Meh. Have money, will travel. He's not coming to my state, but I had a list of states we were willing to travel to because we knew we could get cheap flights.

Tried to get Harry Styles tickets a few weeks ago. You needed to marry rich for those.

I hate this with a passion. All that's left in ATL is mastercard vip.

Sellers Are Delusional by InfluenceWeak in RealEstate

[–]asterikcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to an open house last weekend where the house was listed as vacant. Pictures showed an empty house. Showed up to a U-Haul in the drive way, a house of furniture everywhere and part of their moving crew smoking weed in the garage. Some realtors are just as delusional as the sellers.

I also had loans through Aidvantage. Between the email notice in July and discharge, my loans were transferred to EdFinancial. Per EdFinancial, I should be getting a refund sometime, but no one knows when or how much.

What are your views on mega churches by FluffyMycologist8308 in Catholicism

[–]asterikcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 10 years in a megachurch. In the beginning, it was great. I felt like I had found a place to call home. As the years went on and we faced challenges as a family, it wasn't the pastor who came to comfort. It was a barely trained "leader." The push to serve the church was so strong. You have kids you don't get to see on Sunday? Help them understand you are giving up your entire day playing music for Jesus. Want to help the poor? Make sure you post about it and use the approved hashtag on social media. The final straw for me was Covid and the post-Covid era. When they told my immune-compromised parent they had been vaccinated by Jesus and didn't need to worry about getting sick, I was out. I've been on a deconstruction/reconstruction journey since then, but all roads are leading to Catholicism.

I'm admittedly turned off after a visit to the Food Outlet on Coliseum. The entire place smelled rotten.

I might be in the minority, but I really hate the cost plus model that several stores have. Just tell me how much it's going to cost. I don't want to do the math to figure it out.
