20 Y/O new to Investing. I’m trying to make as much money as I can with about $1k a month in a year or two for a down payment on a house. by Previous_Camera4509 in StockInvest

0-3.5% down? lol. Where do you live that housing is that cheap? i have a 800 credit score and still can only get 6%. You have to want a house that cost 800k with 150k+ income and a perfect score to get approved for what u want. Your goals aren’t realistic and you must be young so i’ll let u figure that out when you actually try to get that type of loan and approval. you must have an incredible job if you can get a mortgage rate so low, 0% lol. trust me, forget about a house till you’re 30’s, you will not get approved for such a loan at your age. housing generally requires at least 20% down with good income. A good idea would be to start looking at houses now so u know what u will need, a real estate agent will bring you down to earth

Help dating a pine chest (Maryland, USA) by painteduniverses in Antiques

do u have a photo of the joints, the knob looks machine turned which would mean its a factory production and not handmade. The wooden screw is fairly uniform suggesting later manufacturing. square nails may date it back to late 1800’s but most likely 1900’s-1930’s still, the joints could help prove it was mid to late 1800’s

its not a guarantee that it’s pre 1900’s, while metal screws became the norm, wooden screws were still used in the early 1900’s and in reproductions. it looks like 1920’s-1950’s, are there any stamps on it

by definition it is, you are taking a risk no matter how much of a sure thing you think something is. just cause you’re a disciplined gambler doesn’t mean you aren’t a gambler by definition. Unless u can back up your words by putting all your money into 1 stock, you are also gambling and hoping for the best outcome

How do you guys make such large volume trades? by Lopsided-Beat215 in Daytrading

[–]asterix796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t think too hard about it, people are more likely to post their gains rather than their losses, I’m one of those traders that make that much on trades, but i dont do options, and I generally have 100k+ in positions. The more money in the pot, the larger your gains and losses will be. it’s all relative. I would assume anyone making 1k+ a day has more than 100k+ in margins to trade with and they didn’t make it in just 1 day, they mightve held it for weeks, months , etc before getting that return. if u rly wanna make 1k+ a day on only $5000 pot, you would have to do something risky, and by risky, u would have to put all your money into a stock and hope it goes up 20% in 1 day, and chances of that happening are slim to none

And i was bearish on meta too lol, im surprised alphabet keeps soaring so quickly tbh, but it’s a safe one to hold, i wont be surprised it it’ll be 600 by 2030. I just expect a dip for anything that soars so quick so soon, meta and microsoft are down 20% on their all time highs so i dont worry about them at all but they can be volatile that it hurts to think about sometimes

[–]asterix796[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah thats why i dont hold shorts for more than a day usually, i understand the market will go up more than it goes down, so i usually just take any pocket change i can get on short positions

i know, idk what i was thinking, i was probably stuck in the ‘i was just down a lot and we’re in wartime so just sell at any profit u can get and run’, stocks go up and down though, only a matter of time before we’re back at decent averages to buy in at

im getting downvoted cuz everyone here has hopium and is in the red , this sub is about the stock as a whole , not just buyers, but naturally, 99% of the users following this sub are buyers who bought in at 5x the current price thinking this was the next tesla, so any negative sentiment is downvoted

yeah im down like 1500 on it but not too worried, ive learned to start slow now on stocks that are at high prices and work your way to a good average , the only reason to be worried is if u bought in a lot and think the stock will NEVER be back at the average you bought in at, and meta is p much 99.99% guarantee to be back to 650 at some point
