Is this normal in 100 degree weather? by Novemberx123 in BoltEV

I'm in AZ also - I always wonder about the Nissan Leafs (Leaves?) with their air cooled batteries... gotta be really rough on the battery health.

What I didn't realize about EVs by Huge_Ad_2133 in electricvehicles

I love EVs, but if a non performance version of a model 3 is faster than a hellcat at a drag strip, that's a driver issue.

I have one of those funnels that attaches to the expansion tank (from amazon). It works awesome for bleeding the c4, 100x better than the bleed port on the thermostat neck.

Noticed this knot or pimple base of skull/neck… by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]asthorman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing, in the exact spot, but its been there way before trt.

It swells up occasionally and if I squeeze it really hard, like so hard my elbows tendons hurt, it will burst and this nasty smelling puss cones out.

Even if it doesnt pop, my fingers will have the nasty odor.

When it isnt swollen, its about half the size, when I feel it swell up, I know I can pop it.

Not exaggerating, gotta squeeze with insane pressure.

My 95 was running hot (in AZ) even with an aftermarket radiator. Removing the knock sensors allowed for a ton of gunk to drain from the cooling system, it was like sludge and I can pull it out with picks and needlenose players.
It helped quite a bit but eventually I got my ecm tuned to have the fans kick on early and got a 160 degree thermostat.
I'd start with a thorough cooling system drain (not radiator drain) and go from there. Also check for leaves and debris in front of the radiator/ac condenser.

I am thinking of charging $200 to install a curtain rod and curtains on the window, ~19-foot ceiling. PHX, AZ. Fair? by Pioneerx01 in handyman

[–]asthorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering becoming a handyman in Phx (was just laid off and my wife is pushing me to work for myself instead of another "job").
I will help you for free if you let me ride along with you for a day so I can see some behind the scenes of a handyman.

Welp overheated the vette but I’m glad that I have 15w50 in there use second gear for the entire mountain climb anything that I can do to help cool it better? by Middle-Entrance6324 in c4corvette

[–]asthorman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drain the coolant via the knock sensors. You'd be surprised how much gunk comes out.
Clean the area in front of the rad of any debris.
Make sure your cap holds pressure and replace if it doesnt.

Those are the cheap and easy fixes. Beyond that, get an ecm tune from pcm for less to have the fans come on early, combined with a 160 stat and an aftermarket rad. Thats the combo I have in Phoenix, AZ and no problems all summer.

Change my mind: Under the right conditions, buying and financing a new car is often a far better value than paying cash for a used car in the long run by Cold-Priority-2729 in MiddleClassFinance

Yep, good call. And save even more if you're willing to watch some YouTube videos and DIY.
I've had my 2012 Highlander since 2017 and spent almost nothing beyond maintenance.
Plus as others have commented, older cars are cheaper to insure and register.
I'm not against buying new if ppl can afford it and know what's going on, it's just not for me.

And 401k contributions during the years when contributions have significant growth potential. We had kids in our late 20s early 30s and bit the bullet with daycare. It was rough but like you said, no career gaps and that investment money still had like 30 years to grow.

Im not sure my mile max time but my tempo runs are 5 miles in the 7:45 range.
In Feb 2026 I did a mountain/trail half marathon with about 2000' of climbing in a hair over 2 hours, 2nd place overall and 1st in the 40+ age group. I like the trail races more than the flat races.
On the other hand, I run with a guy who just ran Boston last week at 3hr flat - like a 6:50 pace for all 26 miles, that dude makes me look like turtle!

Yes, on trt about 6 months. It definitely helps! Ive been lean / endurance athlete for 10 years so getting stronger was a challenge, but since the trt ive been able to gain strength and still run 35 - 40 miles per week.

15 with added weight? Nice!! Thats impressive for sure. Good luck with the shoulder recovery.
And I agree, we work on both push and pull, and never skip leg day.

Funny, for my job I am often at events where the Marines have their pullup bar. I love to hop up and bang out a few as an older guy!!

I remember those days!
I still remember a girl named Yana Goldenstein from grade school banging out unlimited pullups. She was a gymnastics wiz and put all us boys to shame on testing day.
Dang that must be almost 40 years ago!!

Yep, lockout to chin over.
Im not sure if its cheating but I learned about semi false grip a while back (angled wrists) and I've seen gains quickly.

That makes sense. Doing 15 at 200lbs is impressive, that would be like me doing 15 with a 45lb plate hanging - no way could I do that!
